Now....dont shoot me, its just an idea Ive been kicking around is all as I STILL havent given up on landing both Barron and Konz.

We draft Barron at 14........then offer up Felix Jones to New England as they lost their starter in the offseason, Next years number one, and we flip 2nd rounders we them. They get pick 45 of the second round from us....we get pick 48 from them.

Not even saying New England would do this. But.......they would get rid of a very low first this year in return for what they might believe to be a mid round first next year,.....a decent running back in Felix, and the ability to move up a little in the second.


From the Dallas point of view,....I would do it. I think we need a center THAT badly.

Besides......Barron AND Konz? Thats a killer draft that helps us out bigtime starting THIS YEAR. To say nothing of what we can do the rest of the way in the draft.

There is no player outside of the top ten that I'd mortgage a future #1 on. You never know what can happen in the NFL and all it takes is one bad hit for a team you'd think has Super Bowl aspirations to be picking in the top ten. Would have hated to sit through the 2010 season AND not end up with Tyron Smith.

Thats true. BUT......We really wouldnt be mortgaging a 1st round pick. We would be getting it a year early so we can use it right away.

And Felix? We have heard it all before. Every year we say THIS IS THE YEAR, but it never really is. In fact...he may even fit with New Englands offense alot better than he does in Dallas.

I myself think Tanner is a decent back with upside. We wait until preseason and the cuts happen......bring in a backup type running back from another team and have him battle it out with Tanner. May the best man win. Demarco is the starter.

One thing though........whoever is running the rock will have a legit center in front of him.

I assume that you mean that we trade for one of NE's first rounders this year as well, although it isn't mentioned. They would likely not give up the earlier one. Having Barron and Konz would be very good, but this deal would not make me happy...I wouldn't want to give up the 1st rounder from next year under any circumstance....and, if I had the additional 1st rounder, I may want to grab a DE/DT or Fleener or Zeitler as much as Konz...

LOL. Yep,....looks like I forgot to mention that part! We get one of New Englands 1st round picks......31. We use it on Konz.
