Release! I guess the Texans are really house cleaning
That is amazing. He was their big FA acquisition when he went there last year (or was it the year before). I saw him play a few times and thought he played pretty well. I wonder what the story is there.keithshepherd said:Release! I guess the Texans are really house cleaning
I thought he had come to Houston from a 4-3 system (but I couldn't remember where) and in Houston he played on a 3-4. That is why I said I thought he could play in either system. And of course it stands to reason that whoever they put ahead of him had a lot to do with why he is gone. I just find it courious considering how big a deal it seemed to be for them to get him.summerisfunner said:Jack, it was 2 years ago, and he's a DT in a 4-3, or at least he was in Minny, who do the Texans have at DT? that could be the answer as to why he was cut, or if we do any digging and find some dirt

They were a 3-4 defense under Dom Capers. Kubiak took over this season and now they're a 4-3.tomson75 said:http://www.houstontexans.com/team/depth_chart.php?section=TH%20Depth%20Chart
According to their depth chart, its a 4-3. I'm no expert on anything Texan, but 2 DT's, 1 LE, 1 RE, 1 WLB, 1 MLB, 1 SLB = a 4-3 defense.

Bingo. That is always a risk with signing free agents as we well know.InmanRoshi said:I think it has more to do with Robaire Smith being not that good than the scheme. He was a huge disappointment in Houston, and reportedly didn't display a very good work ethic after cashing in his signing bonus check.
When exactly did Carter thrive?clayman said:Sounds like Andre Carter....he blew in the 3-4 but thrived in the 4-3...but he was a pass rushing DE...we'll see what happens now...lets be happy that our own Greg Ellis has been good in both and should see some single teams with Ware on the other side possibly garnering doubleteams.
