Are Commanders heading to arbitration on salary cap case?
By Mark Maske
Is the Washington Commanders salary cap case headed to arbitration?

A person with knowledge of the case said there have been discussions about using an arbitration provision of the league’s collective bargaining agreement to challenge the penalty imposed by the NFL. The league took away $36 million in cap space over two years from the Commanders, and $10 million over two years from the Dallas Cowboys, for the way they structured player contracts in 2010, when the league had no salary cap.

The Commanders and the NFL declined to comment. People familiar with the case have said the Commanders have been considering their options in response to last week’s ruling by the league.

It's unlike Jerry Jones to let go of a good fight with the NFL. Whehter this goes to court or arbitration, he must have a good reason to (a) not merge his case with Washington's and (b) stand pat for now and do nothing. Could it be that he's waiting for a ruling i the Washington case before he trikes, or to see how the NFL plays its hand, so that when he does strike he can have a better chance of winning? I just don't see him never persuing this.

Chances are your right. Dallas is getting hit for 10 mill but skins getting hit for 36 I don't think they can afford not to fight it.

......washington has 26 million more reasons to fight it than dallas does.(36 mil is a blood letting, 10 mil is a slap on the wrist) VERY disappointed dallas came out the other day and said they'll accept the punishment without a fight..............weak.

Danny has just about every incentive to pursue this aggressively, now. Jerry has the potential for a second Superbowl and 26 million other reasons to take a slower, more cautious approach. As I've argued in other threads, they really are in two separate boats, although on the surface it may not appear that way.

Cap goes up again next year too.

I think they should fight it, but not for the monetary reasons you are referring to.

Both teams got screwed and it does not make sense on several levels.

I don't disagree with you but I could understand Dallas letting Washington lead the way given how much they have to lose.

Absolutely. It makes sense to feel it out before getting in too deep to recover.

The Commanders are probably po'd about the situation and a little confused. That confusion is the same thing all of us are confused about.

How did you let it happen if it was wrong, you could stop it, and on top of it all, you knew about it ?

Jerry may not be out front on this thing, but I'd bet he's chewing a lot of ears.

When did they say this?

I agree with you. Skins have a lot more on the line than we did. Yes the principal also matter because if something like this happned who is to say it will not happen again. I'm all for for the Skins and Cowboys to fight this

......and every time they act worthless and WEAK, which is quite often in the last 15 years, I'm going to voice my opinion. I told another LEMMING that blindly follows this team and backs every idiotic thing Jerrah does the same THING this morning. I've been a die hard fan since 1977, and won't be cowed by cheerleaders like yourself. I'm going to voice my opinion: if you don't like it, lump it.:D

.....thread on here yesterday saying cowboys WON'T fight it: I do believe it had credible sources as well. But don't let that stop your cheerleading.

I know Dallas said they would not pursue it however if the skins choose to it kind of puts us on the hook as well since we are the only 2 teams that had cap money taken. Dallas situation is one where it is better to see if the Skins push it as opposed to us since they have so much more on the line.

As for cheerleading yeah i guess you could say I'm a fan who pulls for my team and not one to go crying all the time and acting outraged.

.......not even CLOSE to crying or acting outraged. I AGREED with you that we should fight it....but accurately pointed out we are not going to, and that we are showing weakness as an organization. YOU then inaccurately ripped me for not being a lemming and cheerleader like yourself. Stick to the topic at hand and disengage from all the other BS: you aren't any good at it.

Oh, ok. I thought you said the Dallas Cowboys came out and said they would not fight it. Not challenging you. I just don't remember reading or hearing from the Cowboys that they would not fight it.

.......hope to heck they have a change of heart and DO end up challenging it: JJ should show some cajones and stand up to GODell and Mara.
