The Morning Practice Report
Jason "Jasno" LaCanfora reports from the bubbleless facility:

It's sloppy and ugly out here.

Clinton Portis is nowhere to be seen; Shaun Alexander is working with the first-team offense. Ladell Betts is on the field, but it appears his participation will be limited.

Marcus Washington, Shawn Springs and Anthony Montgomery are not in pads.
Devin Thomas is sick but is attending meetings; he is not on the field for practice. Malcolm Kelly is out here despite the conditions, as is Chris Samuels.

With Springs out, DeAngelo Hall is working with the starting defense with Carlos Rogers. They are running a lot of nickel, so Fred Smoot is also out there with the first team. It remains to be seen how they divvy up the corner assignments.

...

ESPN's Stephania Bell assessed Clinton Portis' injury on her blog today. She thinks it's unlikely that he'll have the range of motion needed to play Sunday.

are you a poker player, fan, or both (I'm asking because of the picture of Gus as your avatar)?

Hall is funny, glad he is in DC! Its like when the Jerry signed Phillipe Sparks and said all is well in Jerryland!

Portis is an idiot but he's also a very, very good RB. God is smiling on us if Portis can't play and Alexander trots out there.

I used to play semi-professionally, but I don't play much anymore.

I hope the weather clears up by gametime.

Incliment weather favors the Commanders by virtue of it slowing down our offense.

Cold and rainy here all day. I thought they did have an indoor practice facility. Guess not.

I don't understand why they would be practicing a lot of nickle:bang2:

I don't think they do. They have an artificial turf field and several grass fields, but I don't think they have a full indoor field at Redsk*n Park.

It is miserable today, but I think Sunday is supposed to be clear but somewhat cold. Probably in the low 40s for kickoff but no rain in the forecast.

could be the threat of facing WOW+Crayton running loose in the secondary in three-four-or maybe five WR sets as Phillips jokingly stated.;) Garrett should be salivating with all the weapons he now possesses.:omg: Here's hoping.

I don't know how many 3 WR sets we see, but I'm interested to see if they devote any more protection to Romo, with the injury, than normal. If so we may see more 2 TE sets, with Bennett and the RB staying in to block and T.O. and Williams running routes with Witten.

I had dreams of being a pro back in 96 before the poker boom. 4 weeks in Vegas trying to grind out a living made it real apparent that poker would never be anything more than a hobby for me.

Too much of a grind with too many highs & lows to have to rely on the turn of a card for my income. I won a seat to play in the main event in 2006 and was so tired by the 11 pm of the first day, I knew there was no way I could last for 11 more days had I gotten incredibly lucky enough to make the final table.

I don't see how some of these guys do it. I love the game, but I don't love it enough.
