These two coaches deserve some props. I watched each play from the Titans game 2-3 times. One thing that I noticed is consistently good to great blocking from all the receivers and tight ends. I have to eat some crow on Hanna. I wanted to upgrade his spot this past offseason. He came from OU with a "finesse" label. That man can block his *** off and he takes pride in it. Same thing goes for Witten and toothpicks like T-Will and Beasley. Any of you film guys notice this improvement?

Some other notes after the re-watch...

-Frederick is a gift from heaven. He is by far the most consistent lineman, even more than T. Smith. He's on his way to the ProBowl this year if he keeps playing like that. I only counted one bad play for him (the holding call in the 3q).

-Leary made a few mistakes in pass pro but I think we underrate his ability to run block. Dude is a mauler. Watching him and Fred mauling guys 5-6 yds down the field is a thing of beauty. On Murray's fumble, Leary was straight mauling *****s 10 yds down the field. Leary's weakness is his athleticism. This is very noticeable on sweeps and tosses where he's too slow to get out and block.

-Martin is a technician. Watching him and Fred hand off defenders to each other with ease shows they are really developing chemistry. When he gets stronger, it's over brehs. He's just as nasty as Leary and Fred. He made a few mistakes in run blocking but was damn near perfect in pass pro. Watching him chop down defenders on sweeps is a thing of beauty.

-Free, even tho he got better as the game went on, needs to be replaced next year. He'd be a great backup but he's too mistake prone to start another season. Everybody makes mistakes, the thing about Free's mistakes is they kill drives....they almost always lead to negative yards. Titans have a very good front 7 but their ends are not special. Free is going to face better competition than this. He can't be whiffing on his punch 3-4 times a game giving the defender a straight line to our brokeback QB. Watching him play is frustrating b/c there are so many times he doesn't engage with any defenders, he just gets in the way. Let's get a big strong RT in the 2nd round next year.

-Tyron Smith is a machine, maybe 1 time he got pushed back into the pocket. His ability to get knocked off balance but correct himself immediately is one of his best traits. The only thing I want to see from him is more nasty, finish your blocks like Fred. He pulls up sometimes when he has the defender in a vulnerable position.

-Murray was awesome. Sometimes it seems like he leaves yards on the field. Not this game. He had a cutback available in the 1st half for big yards but that's just nit picky.

-Dez is Dez. McCourty is a physical corner but Dez punked him a couple times on the LOS for easy pitch and catch slants. If Witten doesn't whiff on a block and almost get Romo killed, Dez has a 35-40 yd TD in the 2nd quarter.

-I want to see Beasley more involved. He was open a few times but Romo was looking at Witten.

Good catch, Z. I also noticed it. Witten, from all accounts, has really focused on his blocking this past off-season and he took as much pride in the rushing performance as Fredbeard, Martin, or Smith did. I actually noticed Beasley finding a way to at least get in the way effectively in pre-season, also. Great coaching jobs on display, here.

Low key, Dooley has been the best coach on the staff the last 2 years imo. I started noticing the improvements last year.

Btw Bisaccia, Pope, Dooley, Marinelli...this is a pretty good staff.

We have really good coaching in all areas. Thank God it's not left up to Garrett he can do the walkaround thing full time now.

The commitment to the run will only make Beasley more of a weapon.

Have not noticed it with Hanna, have just not really been watching him much.

However I have noticed it with Twill and not just in the Titans game.

There's an element of stupid around this board that, sadly, will never go away.

Yeah but I try to remember there are some "younger" fans on here. You can kind of tell and you try and cut them some slack because if they're here, they're engaged and passionate about the team and I'm pretty sure I would have said stupid stuff too (probably still do at times) so that's okay with me.

Excellent write up Z! I love the pass blocking downfield by receivers. I always say to myself if I was a receiver in the NFL that's something I would really take pride in because those are the blocks that turn a ten yard catch into a fifty yard TD. I think when Romo gets better we will start seeing Escobar and Hanna catch the ball downfield more. It's the only thing missing from their games right now.

Excellent post!

Good point on the coaches. I've noticed T. Williams several good blocks in the running game this season. Hanna is a quality utility player. He's not an overwhelming blocker physically, but he knows his assignments and executes them.

The OL coaches and RB coaches should get a mention also. This OL run blocking scheme and coaching are terrific.

Callahan as your offensive line coach and Linehan as your OC isn't up there in the ranks also?

It's not the assistants that everyone is questioning, its been the HC.

I was very down on Hanna the last 2 years. But man he really has improved. He's also good on special teams. Bisaccia has a pack of dawgs on that unit (Hanna, Randle, Heath, Harris).

What did you think about the following players.

Free - i think he needs to be upgraded next year. offer him as a backup. he's a drive killer.
Wilber - i think he can be upgraded asap with michael sam. wilber gets swallowed by tackles like a magnet.
Selvie - not seeing the same pass rushing ability as last year. biggest disappointment for me on defense so far. maybe injury issues....
T. McClain - some raiders fans told me not to expect much from him. i didn't see much difference btw him and hayden. i actually thought hayden played better.
Moore - the last 2 years it felt like the organization had a 180 view of him than the forum. after rewatching him i think i know why. he doesn't always go 100%. he carries himself with some swagger/bravado but there were times where i felt he pulled up on tackles and blitzes.

Free - Time to move on. Go into camp with Parnell, Weems and Martin taking snaps at RT. I would give Parnell some snaps a RT now.

Wilber is a good backup possible starter at SLB that can play a few snaps at DE.

Selvie - Injury is probably a problem right now. Not a long term solution.

T. McClain was never with the Raiders. Only R. McClain was with them. T. McClain looked better at 3-tech than at 1-tech in the Titans game; however, he looked powerful at NT last season with Houston.

Moore - I thought he had a terrific game. I didn't notice any problems but I'll review him again.

You've been beating the Parnell drum for a while now and I have to admit I'm just not seeing it. At least with me he doesn't pass the eye test. Maybe I'm mising something so if I am someone enlighten me.

He was good in 2 games at LT in 2012 and in 4 games rotating with Free at RT. He was good in the preseason games if you look at ALL of this snaps and not just the very few where he did have a problem.

There were reports that he struggled in practice at Training Camp, but in the actual preseason games he definitely had a passing grade.

My bad, I meant Texans fans.

Parnell I just don't see. I think they've given him every opportunity to take that job from Free the last 2 years. I would like one in the 2nd round of the draft.

Watch Moore on his blitzes very underwhelming. Him and Carter seem to go thru the motions sometimes.
