So now that we've had 3 preseason games to go on, how does everyone feel about our WR Depth?

Is Holly a sure lock to make the team? He impressed me quite a bit tonight.

I'm still not sold on our depth. Holley did okay tonight, but he is definitely not a lock. He caught 3 balls tonight that he should have caught. Let's not be a prisoner of the moment again like everyone did when Harris had a big day.

He looks legit, oddly enough. I think we have enough weapons that we can afford to lose either of Bryant or Austin for a period of time. If we lose them both, we'll still be competitive, too, but it'll take more creativity.

I like our depth I believe we have some good young talent. These guys can play.

Holley showed he can provide depth at WR tonight. Plus he's among te better special teamers. I'll be shocked if he does not make this team as the #4 or #5 WR.

Romo seems to like throwing to him, so I like him.

He showed that he can provide depth because he had the "game of his life" by catching 3 balls that any WR in varsity high school football could make? Remember, most of these kickers will be kicking the ball out of the end zone when the season starts so his "ST" value will not be the same. JG has already addressed this issue with stricltly "ST players" which Holley is. This one game does not prove that Holley is a dependable WR.

Question: if Holley wasn't being strongly considered for at least the 5th WR role, why would Garrett give him so much time at WR with the 1st team O in the most important (to the 1st team) preseason game?

Any WR playing varsity football could catch 80% of the passes thrown in the NFL. The crazy, Dez-level catches usually happen less than twice per game. The question, obviously, is whether or not these kids could even be in any sort of position to succeed against an NFL secondary... and the very strong majority could not. Almost sounds like you're rooting against Holley.

Holley also plays an important role in punt coverage.

Punt coverage is not looked at the same way as kickoff coverage. JG has already addressed this.

Lol, what? Care to explain? It would be nice if you actually quote JG too.

BTW, the Vikings returned six kickoffs today, I'd say KR coverage is still pretty important.

I think the same. I like Manny Johnson he pulled some bullets out of the air last night.

He always seems to have a DB glued to him though, nice catches but would have liked to see him get a little more open

Seems like a big drop off after 19 and 88. Injury to either is a big deal (obviously). Thankfully, we'd have Witten, Felix and Phillips plus this new athletic line that can move around to set screens and short stuff up. Also, Dez has "go to" and "home run" covered. I think this gives the change to allow a more natural development of depth - i.e., they don't have to be forced into any particular role.

I would feel better about KO if he had gotten his other foot down in the end zone last night. But, I have seen great sideline plays/feet from him in the past...

Don't disagree, but just last week the messaging from JG and Robinson seemed to indicate guys needed to step up from 3 through 5 or 6.

All the WR's seemed to perform fairly well last night, but no one really differentiated themselves (except, maybe Manny Johnson).

Just not seeing it with Ogletree. Not sure if it was playcalling or what...

I trust the coaches to make the right decisions. They see them in games and at practice. Also, they know what plays are called and whether players performed their duties properly or not.

A lot of times in the NFL, that is "open."
