They have that tactified (Or whatever) surface to them as all receiver gloves do. Heres the cool thing about that. Any player can get them.

Obviously they don't help every player. OScan dropped one right in his hands.

So, no, it wasn't just the gloves that allowed that catch.

Nike Vapor Jet 3.0 gloves, I'm pretty sure. I have the same kind (though I prefer Cutters).
