WR Noah Brown practicing for first time

Source - Todd Archer on :espn:

I believe Brown is on IR (not PUP). He is eligible to practice after being on IR for 6 weeks and eligible to return after 8 weeks.

With the PUP rules, the player can practice for a max of 3 weeks before the team must either activate him or put him on IR.

I'm not certain if players returning from IR get the same 3 weeks or not.

@Nightman

The Cowboys love Brown's ability as a blocking WR. He was the best blocking WR in college that I've ever seen.

I've heard this WR/TE thing before, but the dude has never taken a single snap at TE. No idea where that's coming from.
He'll play slot receiver on the opposite side from Beasley, that's basically a tight end when the formation is 10 - four wide shotgun with Zeke in the backfield. It's a good formation to run because Brown has a huge advantage in run blocking against the slot nickelback.

3 months for a hamstring is a problem

Can't make the club from the tub

Unless there was a tear in the hamstring. And took a while to recover.
You rather he have been cut, then another team picked, him up.
It was a safe and smart move to put him on IR.

It twas a ruse

I remember someone on the forum getting fighting mad with me because I questioned his statement that Noah Brown would be the steal of the draft.
Now that he's healed, maybe he'll get to live up to that poster's lofty standards. ;)

People get carried away with that. He is a good blocking receiver, thats it. They use him similar to how they used TWill and Hurns. Bring them inline as an extra blocker on the edge.

Wonder if they could turn him into a TE? He is a good blocker with pretty good hands???

WR: He'll be expected to be a great blocker and functional receiver.

TE: He'l be expected to excel as a receiver and be a functional blocker.

Playing TE would put the emphasis on his receiving skills because he is not going to be a better blocker than the 250+ pound TEs on the roster.

He would need to be the starting TE for that to be a fit. Teams can and often do give up some blocking ability for starting TEs that are good/great receivers; however, teams almost always use good blockers as the #2 TE.

I recall seeing some preseason production outta' him,,,This is good news:starspin:
Catfish noodlin hammy sauce in the upper echelon of extremes is the downfall of sire Brown’s ultimate desire to extend time as a football mega diva liken to an ill-conceived role player. o_O

He's a WR/TE hybrid. Very good blocker and can catch contested balls. Not going to beat many safeties or linebackers down the field, much less corners.
If he can’t get separation, then for Daks sake, I don’t know why we are wasting time and a roster spot with this guy. You got to get open if you want to play catch with Dak.

Copy! And hey FLETCH!,,, if I were to capture a fart from my neighbors dog in an empty breadsack, could yer cousin in Tallahassee savor the flavors of it's smell, while Gimmetheball smears cheese on his chin in attempting to maintain his caloric intake? Cuz' both Noah Brown& myself could be considered curious in knowing that:rolleyes:

* dude, all this time I've held you in pretty much esteemed elavated regard, until this conspired mental midget twist broke surface on the port bow,,,
SHEESE,,,what a MAROONo_O

In that scenario, why is the nickel back on Brown's side and not Beasley's?

I assume you have to cut someone to take his spot within a few weeks. Thompson or Hurns?

Thanks for the information I do think it would take to much and wasnt sure he would even have to frame to add on more weight plus I really hadnt checked his height. He does a great job on the out side for making blocks and downfield.

That's an interesting possibility. Brown is 6'2, 225 and probably has the frame to add 10-15 more pounds. That would make him about the size of a Jordan Reed-type TE. What it comes down to is if the Cowboys think Brown can have TE-type strength and if he can be fast enough at a heavier weight.

I would keep him at receiver. He can be a big possession guy to go along with Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup's speed.

I'd like to see what the kid can do on the field more than watching Hurns giving a half-hearted effort every game........................He's been a complete free agent bust.............
