Maurice Stovall

School: Notre Dame
Position: Wide Receiver
Class: 2006
Height: 6'5"
Weight: 222lbs
Birthday: 2/21/85
40 Time: 4.54 (estimated)

Former track star with great size and hands. Has been having a good showing this week here in Mobile. Closer to 230 or so now. Should be Cutler's #1 target today. He is expected to go anywhere from late first round into the second round. Would love to land him in our spot.

you should watch some notre dame games from this year, stovall, was amazing, randy moss type, with size and athletic ability, little bit bigger probably, and of course not as special as moss, but who knows

Im a huge notre dame fan. He's like Keyshawn version 2.0. Big, physical, but much quicker. I believe he'll run a low 4.5 high 4.4 at the combine. He'd be a 2nd round player, we'd probably have to take him in the 2nd.

but he does drop some passes.

Did he catch more than the one I think I saw?

Stovall is officially 6-4 1/8 and 216lbs.

Maybe in cleats and pads he's 6-5 222lbs. :)

Cleats, pads, and a very soggy uniform.

Stovall reminds me of a young Keyshawn. And with him having a year under Gilbride he'll probably have a leg up on other WR's in terms of picking up NFL offensive systems and preperation.

Hey he's my frat brothers cousin. From everything I've read and watched this past week he has been one of the more impressive WR's at the Senior bowl.

trust me this kids good, they threw his way once in the senior bowl and he had one good catch, i was shocked they didnt throw to him more, maybe the coach was trying to hide him so his team could draft him later, anyways, hes a good player, i hope we draft him plus anthony smith

Jeff Samarzja is a better receiver, taller and surer hands. He made some really sweet over the shoulder catches this past year. Stovalls a good guy but at best will be a #2. We have Keys replacement if you take him, depends on how high you wanna take him, I would not untill the third at least. Samarzja is like Witten and Key combined, sorta like a novecek but at receiver, I see him as a TE in the pros. If we could wait for him, I would prefer him over stovall.

Avant doesn't have the height or the speed. Why?
Neither does Jerry Rice.
Torry Holt.
Marvin Harrison.
...

Don't get too caught up in measurables.

I'm certainly not saying Avant is the next Rice.
But he could very well be the next Deion Branch.
He has plenty of speed.

Yes, and those guys had to establish those things in the NFL. He is what he is in the draft, and that is a medium-speed, slightly above average wide out. He has (by far) the most average body type of all prospective wide receivers, and very few of that build ever see consistent success. It is usually the exceptions that break through.

Avant could be good, but if a guy with better measurables and speed is on the board, you take what you've got in front of you.

Ashwynn... Samardzija isnt coming out this year. And no gaurantee he will play football. He is Notre Dame's top pitcher as well. (Dallas will obviously covet him). But he is not tight end material. This is a wide reciever all the way,not an nfl tight end.

Stovall took advantage of Samarja's attention. Stovall is not that great seemed a little soft to me and dropped alot of balls. Samarja should stick with baseball if he is smart he is a better baseball player.
