WR Terrance Williams could find bigger contract elsewhere

2016 impact: Williams recorded 44 catches for 594 yards, which both ranked fourth among Cowboys, and four touchdowns. He's capable of highlight catches, such as the toe-tapping touchdown he scored on Thanksgiving that showed why fellow receiver Dez Bryant calls Williams "Sweet Feet." He's capable of low moments, too, such as failing to get out of bounds to stop the clock after a catch in the waning seconds of the season-opening loss to the New York Giants. He's well-respected by his teammates and the coaching staff and a key part of the tight-knit and competitive receiving corps.

Why Williams won't likely be back: With the expiration of his rookie contract, Williams, a Dallas native and third-round pick out of Baylor in 2013, will be looking for a significant pay day. The Cowboys could be unlikely to pony up for a No. 2 receiver who doesn't consistently wow. Dallas will also have to consider what it wants to do with receiver Brice Butler, another free agent who could be more affordable and offers a similar skill set on the outside. The Cowboys could also look for receiving help in the draft.

I like Williams.

I don't like Williams at a hefty price tag.

Sign Butler for cheaper, maybe find a vet WR and then draft a guy in the mid-rounds.

A guy I would love to add is Kenny Stills but he's going to get paid in FA I think.

I think the #2 guy has to have some ability to get down the field. So while I don't have an issue with a vet like Boldin for a year, I am not sure he really helps us.

I'm very concerned about the WR position. Dez hasn't been able to stay healthy lately and they don't have anyone on the roster capable of being a productive starter. Adding a cheap vet and a mid round pick could easily put this offense in a horrible position if Dez gets hurt again. It's a position that I think some might be surprised at the resources they throw at it. I wouldn't be surprised one bit if they sign a mid ranged FA (5-6 million AAV) and a 3rd or higher on.

If we are going to pay money for a #2 I'd prefer Stills over TW by a wide margin if the money is anywhere close.
I like TW but not a ton. It will hurt to lose him but not terribly difficult to upgrade.
