Thomas Johnson Decommits From Texas Longhorns And Will Visit Oregon Ducks

By Bud Elliott

Jan 6, 2012 - Thomas Johnson, one of the top receivers in the country, has decommitted from the Texas Longhorns, per Burnt Orange Nation. Johnson stars for Dallas Skyline and is widely considered one of the top ten receivers in the country. Johnson had been committed to Texas since February 21st of 2011.

This could mean a couple of different things. Could be that he didn't like what he saw with Conner in the UnderArmor game or it could be that he thinks Green-Beckham might be coming to Texas.

ding ding ding. We have a winner. I'm amazed that any receiver wants to come to Texas with the abortions we have trying to throw the ball.

Conner looked like he had no business anywhere near that game.

He wants to visit Oregon, who has been recruiting Texas fairly well lately. I seriously would not be surprised if money is involved for this move.

Which is still better than what Texas currently has at QB. :)

from another forum...

DB DeVante Harris of Mesquite Horn has heard from UT since he decommitted from OU, but the staff isn't expected to bring him in for a visit at this point. No reason given as to why. I've seen some reports that he is kin to WR Thomas Johnson and it's funny that both decommitted at the same time and both are expected to visit Oregon.

Some rumors are swirling around about Johnson and Harris being involved with a street agent. You gotta admit it is pretty suspicious how they decommitted at the same time and are both visiting Oregon. There are also a lot of other decommits around the country right now, many of them including Johnson seem to have some sort of relation with this agent. The guys name is Baron Flenory Jr.

Wonder if somebody in Austin started the Chip Kelly to the NFL rumors I heard today?

Seastrunk and two others who are now in Oregon were also connected to Flenory. Also, Flenory played for UNH under Chip Kelly. How much longer will this go on until the NCAA steps in to stop it?

Some interesting news. DB DeVante Harris has cancelled his official visit to Oregon this weekend and will instead visit Texas A&M. Oregon is not out of it but I wonder if this has anything to do with his name being attached to street agent Baron Flenory in the last week. WR Thomas Johnson is still scheduled to make a trip to Eugene.

...or he just received something under the table from some other University or University booster.

Harris is taking an official visit to Ohio State on Jan 27th. Johnson's name popped up on an Ohio State insider board. No clue if there is any intrest from Johnson or not.

I live near Portland, Oregon and the belief around here from non-Ducks is that Seastrunk left because he realized things were going to get ugly for the U of O. Hopefully more of these kids will realize the potential trouble and will stop following these "street agents."

A little bit of good news for the Horns thou, 2011 4Star DT commit Quincy Russell will finally be headed to the 40. Russell was unable to qualify for classes in 2011 but since has attended Trinity Community College and is expected to be enrolled at Texas in the Spring. Quincy is now at 6'4" 315.

Per Hook 'Em 24/7, Mack Brown, Darrell Wyatt and Major Applewhite are doing a school and in-home visit with WR Marcus Johnson today.
