Here's an idea for WR... Key stays, Glenn stays, Crayton is entrenched for good, Copper comes on, and we draft a WR in either round 1 or 2.

If Holmes even comes out, he should be off the board long before the Cowboys pick... but here are two options that intrigue me:

Martin Nance, Miami-Ohio... very big (6-5, 216), but not strictly a possession receiver... he has good (not great) speed, and can get downfield... last year was a disaster for him on account of injury, but he had 90 catches, for a little under 1500 yards in 2003...

Todd Watkins, BYU... needs to add some bulk, but is over 6'3, and runs the 40 under 4.3 seconds...averaged over 20 yards per catch last season (52 catches, 1042 yards)...

Best of all, it's entirely possible that both of them will be drafted in the second round, in the 40-50 pick range... you wouldn't necessarily need to spend a first rounder on them... of course, this could change if either one put up a big senior season...

I agree and think we draft a wr next year, and not pick one up in free agency. And as far as being worried about the qb position, luckily unlike other positions th qb position is like wine, its better with age! It normally takes at least three years for a qb to contribute at a high level were other positions may have impacts their rookie year. There are exceptions, but few when it comes to qb. I think Henson shows a lot more next year, that means he has to grow alot this year. If he does not show anything next year then I think the Cowboys start looking elsewhere. Bledsoe will holds us over until then, and Romo not matter what people say is our qb of the future; our #2 of the future that is.

Since I think we can get two more years (including this one) out of the guys we have now it might be better to draft a WR than pay the extra for a FA. He could sit a year and learn while we get one more out of Key and Glenn.

I say we need to improve our O-line first. New England has showed that any C grade WR can look good when the QB has time to set up and pass. Drafting a WR or picking up a FA might help, but the O-line should be the #1 priority for next years draft.

A Good O line = good pass protection/good running lanes = first downs = touchdowns = victories
