MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- West Virginia cornerback Brandon Hogan was arrested early Sunday and charged with driving under the influence.

He remains an active member of the roster, pending further consideration by Coach Bill Stewart.

"I have been made aware of the situation and am gathering facts at this time," Stewart said in a statement to the Daily Mail.

"I will take appropriate action when all the facts are in."

The senior starter from Manassas, Va., was pulled over at 3:17 a.m. by Morgantown police. He was driving the wrong way on Spruce Street, a one-way street in downtown Morgantown, according to Lt. Harold Sperringer.

Sperringer said Hogan, 22, was processed without incident and later arraigned and released on bond.

The 5-foot-11, 190-pound Hogan has had academic and conduct issues at WVU in the past, as well as an unexplained personal issue that kept him from practicing for and playing in the 2008 Continental Tire Bowl in Charlotte, N.C.

He was issued a citation for public urination and disorderly conduct in April, and that came after he had been held out of spring practice because he was out of shape and Stewart said Hogan was not fully engaged in academics.
