Dallas Cowboys - Randy Gregory
A solid pass rush can help to cover up even the worst defensive secondaries, conversely a strong secondary gives the pass rush the time it needs to hit the quarterback. In this case, we’re going with the pass rush and that’s where Gregory comes into play. As much as we enjoy seeing DeMarcus Lawrence get to the quarterback, he can’t do it alone. Lawrence needs someone opposite him to get pressure and sacks on quarterbacks. Last season Gregory showed that he still had the speed off the edge to affect the quarterback with 3.5 sacks and 12 quarterback hits in a limited amount of snaps. If Gregory can continue to pressure the quarterback opposite Lawrence, then the Cowboys would be able to help protect a secondary that is a huge question mark heading into the season.

We've seen the impact he can make when he gets a chance. Now, he will not only get a chance, he will do so with a full offseason/training camp/preseason games. All the years of loyalty will finally pay off this year. Time to start talking about Gregory and what he has accomplished ON the field rather than everything that has happened to keep him off of it.

Why is Randy the X factor? I mean he's good and is a great bookend to D Law on the other end, but he has help. Rather than focusing on individuals, we should be seeing the D more as a team effort. The interior of the DL should be solid as well. The hype about an "X factor" is just pure rubbish. It's a team effort by the defense that will make the difference.

Just an article - lighten up. : )

But there are times when one player can elevate a unit. Ro McClain comes to mind, he brought a violence to the D that others fed off of.

I dont think that we have a Ro Mac on the team but the 3 guys on each level of the D that can help are Gregory, Parsons (even tho a rookie) and Diggs.

Gregory has to start strong and be consistent thru-out the year.
Parsons - hopefully he has a good rookie season like LVE had.
Diggs - got beat bad at times last year but considering all that happened, can't blame him too much - got better as the year went on tho.
This year would like to see a big improvement in his game.

Just a bunch of individuals that won't amount to anything unless they learn to function as a team.

Be nice if he's available and playing well the whole season.
Could be a difference maker.

Yes but how well they function as a team also depends on how well those individuals play and elevate their game.

To me Parsons is the X factor on defense for us.

How can you possibly even put that in writing. The main hasn’t played one snap for us and you’re already calling him a scrub. No wonder you’re losing integrity daily

Why even respond to a turd like that? You fell for it.

Teamwork always depends on each individual holding up his responsibility. But the X factor is the team, not the individual.
