At times this year I thought Woods had a chance to become a quality player, and other times I've had doubts, but I felt his performance last night was a true low point for him. He shied away from tackles, tried to tackle a guy with 60 lbs on him with a soft shoulder bump (naturally to no effect), several times rather than make a tackle he gave up first downs and/or let runners gain a lot of extra yards while trying to strip a ball the runner had a firm grip on, and he missed opportunities to make a play on some passes. In my mind he was one of worst players in an overall terrible team effort.

He was beyond brutal but he should never been matched up single coverage on A rob

Yep.

I bought into what a lot of the Cowboys media was saying about him, and a few splash players he made last year.

But, much like Maliek Collins, the flashes have been far too brief, and neither guy has ever delivered on those flashes consistently. No longer buying into any hype on either guy and Collins can leave after this season and we can work to replace both safety spots going forward.

There are a whole lot of question marks and holes on this defense headed into 2020 and a new coaching staff.

He's a good backup IMO. We need a new safety BAD. He makes the occasional good play, but we need more than that. We might get Adams in the offseason since the price was too steep earlier.
What are we looking for in the draft guys? Safety, DT/1T, DE, CB/DB, Offensive linemen, TE, Kickers and Punters, and maybe QB?

I liked how people hyped him up as something more than a late round pick. He's a special teams guy, and can play a couple of sub packages.

The entire defense can't tackle, our scheme is poor, and we can't stop teams on 3rd down and anything. Do we not know how to scheme to stop a running qb?

Part of this great talent everyone keeps talking about.

do the Cowboys have 1 starting caliber safety?

they have a LB core consisting of 2 young guys that played well for maybe 1 season, and a 33 year old guy that is shot.

what disruptive DT is on this roster? Maliek Collins occasionally. When the mood strikes. This defense is woeful up the middle.

what TE would you consider a threat to the opposing defense?

the oline is in regression and in denial.

the kicker is the worst in the NFL.

I’m struggling to find all if this talent everyone speaks of.

I'd say the majority of the players have regressed this year and it's both frustrating and confusing at the same time.

Is it coaching? Lack of attention to detail? Not studying? What?

He's been disappointing for me. I was expecting him to make the next step this year and just has been too inconsistent.

But as I said in another thread, I struggle to start throwing guys on the trash heap at this point. I think the play on the field is tied to the coaching and leadership and that some of these guys would be playing much better under a more competent coaching staff.

One or two guys? Players.

A lot of players regressing? The problem is likely above their heads.

That's a pretty fair analogy. Both he and Collins would be nice role players, but they don't appear to be capable of a lead role. I hate to speak for a guy's mindset, but my impression was Woods was going through the motions last night.

Jamal Adams says hey! I know two different positions but still

I don't doubt it. I think he thinks he's better than he is and never got over the Earl Thomas rumors.

Oh it's coaching, make no mistake about that.

Playing exactly like his draft position. The biggest problem with Woods is that there was so much hype about him. Because of that the expectations were pretty high and it's not looking like he is going to be able to meet those unreasonable expectations. Probably not a bad backup guy but not a answer as a starter going forward.

Should be benched the next game and made an example of in the film room. Should be noted in front of his team that this type of play will not be tolerated. Even if we have to get a bum off the street who plays with more effort that’s who will start. You can just be an average player or a bad player but nothing is worse than a soft player with no effort and this team seems to have a lot of them.

You get diminishing returns if you have him out there snap after snap.

IMO, he has some value as a nickel/dime corner and should be utilized the way Micah Hyde was while in Green Bay.
