When you download a game to your hard drive does it automatically play from the hard drive then with you disk in or do you have to configure a setting?

If you mean when you install it then yes it plays from the hard drive but you still need the disc inn as well which i assume is only a piracy precaution. You don't need to configure anything

Ok cool. I still hear it spin when it goes to every menu screen. thats why I asked.

it will spin when you start up then stop the 360 sounds like the runway on a airport when you play off the disc so you will hear the difference

Ah I got a new Xbox and it makes me delete and re-install it from my old hard drive in order for it to play from the hard drive.
