Only a total moron fires a coach after a 14 win regular season. If not for a stupid play by a Dback, they go into the championship game at home vs the Colts. Maybe they win and win the SB. Maybe not. But to fire him because he wanted his brother- someone he could trust-is even dumber. Unless his brother is not thought to be good- but that is not the case. And judging from who they have now, I doubt he could be worse. Marty was very isolated on that team- Smith had all his guys in every other position. No wonder he wanted someone he could trust.

To hire Norvel Turner? Staring a 1-3 record that GM should be fired mid season with Norvel and Schott offered a mega contract to replace Norvel - NOW.

San Diego Chargers general manager A.J. Smith, who fired Marty Schottenheimer in February and replaced him with Norv Turner, is starting to cover his butt after the Chargers' disappointing 1-3 start.


According to league sources, Smith is telling people that he regrets not firing Schottenheimer earlier and giving the head-coaching job to Chargers defensive coordinator Wade Phillips. Phillips, of course, got the Dallas Cowboys' head-coaching job and has them off to a 4-0 start.
