Would be a steal in the 4th, of course we have no 4th round pick.
I think his situation is very similar to Chris Simms and someone will take him at the end of the 3rd. I don't want to use our 3rd on him unless we end up trading down in the 1st and getting an extra 3rd. I think Whitehurst will also be similar to Simms in the NFL career progression.
I'd still prefer to load up and make a run at Quinn next year. Or better yet, Henson lives up to his talent and comes back from NFLE ready to rock.

Dallas should draft a QB every couple of years just on principle. Not doing that for a decade during the Aikman run set us back substantially. If you hit on a Tom Brady type, you are in great shape. If you hit on a few, you have perfect trade bait. Drafting the Derek Ross/Antonio Bryant garbage ends up getting us zero in the long run.

Whitehurst will be selected day 1 in round 3, imo.

If he makes it to day 2, he'll be picked up early in round 4.

I wasn't impressed with whitehurst. I actually think Brodie Croyle could be a steal if still available in the third or fourth round.

NOOO to Croyle. This guy is an injury waiting to happen. Besides that, he is not even that good. For all the huge Bama Talk last year, they lost to the only 2 decent teams they played and barely won games after the #1 wr went down. And besides all that.. I am a huge AU fan.. and that has to count for something with JJ and BP. :D

Enough said. Croyle has a much stronger arm that Whitehurst, and looked much better all around than Whitehurst in the SeniorBowl practices. His injury problems two years ago were due in large part to the amount of hits he took with very little protection.

By the way, he threw the ball 75 yard twice in the recent skills competition, beating Vince young handily in the event. They used to rave about Randall Cunningham because he could throw the ball 75 yards in the air. On a side note, Whitehurst best effort was 62. My point is only, that he (Croyle) is often underrated in many areas.

If Whitehurst makes it through day 1, he'll be one of those players that teams scramble for a trade to get the first couple of picks of the 4th round to try and pick him up.

I'd be happy if we took him in the 4th or 5th. Obviously, we'd have to deal to get a 4th though. I don't think he'll be there in the 5th though, and like someone said, someone might take him in the 3rd. I'm all about taking QBs, as I think it takes a few shots before you land your guy. And I like what I've read about Whitehurst.
