Exactly.

We've severely overrated the talent of our team.

With that said, we can still win. I've seen not so talented teams make playoff runs, but they usually have great coaches driving them. We lack a great coach, or even a good coach.

I agree about overrating the talent. I thoought so in 2007 but the 13-3 record had people voting everyone with a jersey into the Pro Bowl..even Roy Williams. This is one reason why the disappointment runs deep, they think talent is better than everyone else so we shouldl win very game. Well, the talent is good, but the same can be said on a dozen other teams. There IS enough talent here to have a winning record and maybe win a playoff game though.

There isn't enough talent here for the team to coach itself, like it did in 1994-1995. Without a decent coaching staff, we aren't doing anything.

The Eagles and Giants have just as much talent.....and they sit right where we are in the standings and fighting for a playoff spot.
NE and Pitt are in the same boat......

Lets see how this season plays out....

We are talented enough to win a Super Bowl. I've seen very average teams that were exremely well coached win Super Bowls (i.e. Giants 2007).

We just have a coach that can psychologically manage this group of overpaid 'superstars'.

Jimmy Johnson was the best at constantly getting the best out of his players, preaching execution, building through the draft, etc etc.

We've completely gone in the opposite direction and it starts at the top. The blame needs to be divided equally. Damn shame we're going to waste some of the most talented players in this league (Romo, Ware, Witten, Ratliff) in the prime of their career because Jerry doesn't want to get a real coach in here.

Who ever sent this text is a massive loser, I just pray it was a backup or a scrub, because if this was a team leader or vetertan spreading this mental midgit rot through out our team, we might as well forfiet the rest of the season.

Ah, the memories. Sadly that team being able to perform on autodrive for a year left a lasting impression on Jerry.

Why is everybody always dogging Crayton?
The guy's a team player, he just talks crap about the other team.

:laugh2: that there are still people around that think sports writers make up quotes and stories like this.

The head coach should be providing that lift, not simply doing what he's always done all along. Phillips obviously isn't equipped and our players can't do it themselves because they haven't learned how to win and aren't guided by a winner.

The truth cuts deeply. Jerry put Wade in charge and as GM is incapable of finding the coaching diamonds in the ruff that are out there who are capable of motivating players. As long as Jerry Jones continues his meddling the team has very little chance to succeed. He remains accountable to no one for his failures. It's sad, and it's our lot as Cowboys fans to suffer through it.

I hope Dallas can find a way to win these last four games and do damage in the playoffs. But the players are trying with a blinder over one eye, shackles around one ankle, and one arm tied behind their backs.

Deflecting responsibility to your subordinates will get you fired in many jobs. Its hard to measure intangibles like "fire," "passion," "killer instinct," "desire," but those are the coaches responsibility to instill and they weren't there yesterday YET AGAIN.

And that's b/s as well. You can only pump a player up so much. At some point, it's up to them. We didn't lose because Wade didn't give a good enough locker room speech.

It's not about speeches. Its about building a culture of accountability. You aren't going to be convinced though.

I'm not here saying Wade is a great coach. I barely consider him a decent one.

We didn't lose that game yesterday because of Wade Phillips. They can't tackle. It's a football basic, and they can't do it. Spencer was totally out of position on the Jacobs play. Wade can't be on the field telling him what to do. There's a point where a coach can only do so much. Wade isn't free of blame, but he's not the major reason we lost. Not even close.
