YaHoo Sports: Let's not crown the Cowboys yet

Nobody will agree with me here, but the man makes valid points.

The Browns game was strange, because the Browns beat themselves almost as bad as we beat them.

THe Eagles game was a shootout, and McNabbs fluke fumble def. gave us a break. But we played defense when we had to, which is what matters.

And the Packers game was an overall good game, even though Romo played poorly. They are a good team who we will probably face again in the playoffs.

He makes a good point when comparing us to USC. Point is, we are the best team on paper, but we havent done a thing yet. There's still a long season ahead of us...we're just the flavor of the week.

I love how Philly's fumble was a fluke, and the only reason we won the game, yet our 3 fumbles apparently did nothing to help Philly....and since when did fumbles become excuses?

A fumble is a fumble. Period.

-- Tony Romo has choked in his only two playoff appearances. He gets so skittish under pressure that he makes Donovan McNabb look like John Elway.

Riiiggghhhtt!

And Romo's endzone fumble that handed them 7 points wasn't a fluke. Gotcha.

Never said it wasnt. Got me? Thanks.

My god some of you are ignorant with your assumptions.

Exactly what I was going to say. This guy is a hack. The guy writes for Yahoo Sports for Christ sakes. That's like playing for the Deadskins. :D

When you're trying to make a point about a game by addressing a "fluke" play, you should try and be balanced. Yeah, we were helped by one fluke play, and Philly was helped even moreso by multiple fluke plays. So what was your point?

We beat the Eagles because we were the better team. We had more yards, we were better on 3rd down, and we were better in the redzone.

Watch what happens when I ignore the one lucky break the Cowboys got and focus on those of the Eagles...

Romo's fluke fumble handed them 7 points. The PI call on Anthony Henry was total bull, and it gave Philly 27 free yards down to the 1 yard line. The refs should have seen the DeSean Jackson fumble, negating that eventual TD.

So taking these into account, the argument that we should have won that game by 20+ could easily be made.

when i read the thread title i was gonna say the author is right but WOW that is nothing but a hate article pure trash! that was an absolute waste of time to read...

No one -- NO ONE -- disagrees with your overall point. Which is what makes this article so absurd.

Even your most homeristic of Cowboys fans aren't saying "Give us the crown now!" Even the most irrational of Cowboys fans respect, if not fear, opponents like Philly and New York, or some non-NFC East team that might get hot, come playoff time. Much less whatever team comes out of the AFC.

Again, which is why this article is dumb. The Cowboys don't deserve to be given the title yet? Ya think (not you, the writer)? I've yet to read one analyst suggest we should be given the title. All the praise usually comes with a caveat, as it should: But can Romo win a playoff game? But can Phillips win a playoff game? But can the defense hold up? ..etc.

A long, long road remains. The Cowboys are sitting pretty three weeks in, but have a whole helluva lot of obstacles left to pass.

God forbid someone give us credit.

Please we could go undefeated, and win the Superbowl, and all we'll hear is how we were suppose to do this, because we built our team for the SB, and now the real test is going to be if we can win it again.

He sounds like one of those haters at the ESPN fan forums..The guy is a tool and has no credability to say a damn thing. If He was saying that next to me i would of slapped Him. What a JOKE!

AINT THAT THE TRUTH. Hate is hate is hate. Can't stop hate, can't fight hate.

Only one thing to do with hate.:D

If you read between the lines you can hear the fury, the anger. It's only going to get worse (actually I mean better). As we get closer and closer to our goal and it becomes more and more painful for the haters, they will become more and more irrational. We just have to sit back and soak it up!

-- That much-heralded Monday night win over the Eagles came as the result of a flukey fumble by Donovan McNabb and Brian Westbrook when Philly was on the verge of going up two scores on a Dallas defense that had given up scores on six of eight possessions. In the Cowboys only true test of the year, they had to get lucky with a fumble to win at home.

with all the touchdowns they scored in the second half ..who says they wouldve scored on that drive anyway.......? Mcnabb wouldve puked it away anyhow

Yeah, I love how being 33 yards from the endzone counts as "on the verge" of a TD for them. Especially when they had already settled for three FGs earlier in the game. A FG puts them up by 6, and we scored 7 on our next drive anyways. Philly did not come close to scoring again.

Discredit the 'Boys all you want... the better team won. It's not surprising that several media outlets have turned to excuse-making rather than dealing with that reality.
