Sorry if posted before, but this caught my eye:

“Fire the coach and win. So predictable. Research it.”
– Text Sunday evening from former Cowboys quarterback Drew Bledsoe. (I was too deadline-pressed – or lazy – to research it. But perhaps I should have before making my World’s Simplest Pool pick on Friday.

Which was something I was wondering about. How many times when a HC change is made in season do the teams win the next game?

Goose had this nugget in his article on Sat. 13th. Interesting read.

There have been 72 in-season coaching changes in the game's modern era (since 1960). Only 13 of those 72 interim coaches managed to win more games than they lost, and three others broke even. In the other 56 cases, the interim coach inherited a losing team – and that team kept right on losing.

Only six times has a team finished the season with a winning record under an interim coach – and in half of those situations, the interim coach inherited a team with a winning record.

Drew Bledsoe, how about this: Bench the immobile, washed up, noodle-armed QB and win. A lot.

During the game, they showed a stat where interim coaches named during mid-season were 3-13 in their first game as interim head coach.

Guess I missed that during the broadcast.

Well no one ever confused Bledsoe with being a rocket surgeon... Except for a few on this board that had man-crushes on him like tuna fish, rusty nail and that yawhoo from Canada.
