“Pacman” Jones police reports being reviewed

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_y...iEWSD2bYF?slug=txpacmansaga&prov=st&type=lgns

DALLAS (TICKER) —The saga surrounding suspended Dallas Cowboys cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones took another turn late Wednesday.
A local television station, WFAA News Channel 8, reported that Dallas police are investigating an officer’s report from the now-infamous hotel fight that left the troubled cornerback suspended by the NFL yet again.

Jones, who was reinstated six weeks ago following a 17-month ban, was suspended on Monday for a minimum of four games after police were called to a fight at the Joule Hotel on October 7.

The 25-year-old Jones was attending a party hosted by the rapper Ludacris, and got into a scuffle in the bathroom with his team-appointed bodyguard. No charges were pressed.

Jones’ suspension appeared to close the case on the story, but now WFAA is reporting that the Dallas police believe officer Rodney Allen intentionally omitted key details in his report - including Jones’ name.

The station reported that Dallas police commanders are worried because - according to a memo to Chief David Kunkle - the “vagueness” of the report could “cast doubt on his (the officer) and the department’s credibility.”

Allen reportedly has a history of this type of behavior. The report stated that he has been written up numerous times since 2002 for failure to complete a report, spreading rumors, untruthfulness and improper investigation.

The report then described the discrepancies in Allen’s account of what took place. The station obtained a statement in which Rodney is asked to describe what happened that night in detail. He said he watched Adam Jones “exit the nice vehicle from the passenger side and enter the hotel.”

This contradicts the original police statement, which states that by the time officers arrived, the disturbance had ended. The station said it was unclear whether Allen was inside or outside the hotel, but he said in the report:
“As I admired the hotel designs, the hotel security advised me that something was going on in the restroom near the lobby.”

That is when he heard a call on his police radio about a fight at the Joule. Dallas police said Jones’ bodyguard told them the Cowboys player punched him in the head when they were in a hotel bathroom.

Officer Allen told News 8 he heard a crash in the bathroom - that is when he broke up the scuffle and everyone was escorted out. According to the report, a second officer, Miguel Jamaica, said he observed Jones sitting in a car, “getting upset as he cried.”

None of these details were mentioned in the original police report, which has caused the department to review the matter.

I'm posting from my Blackberry so I don't have the link but the story is on wfaa.com. I caught the tail end of the report on the news this morning.

On officer stated he watched Pacman exit the car and enter the hotel which contradicts the story that says the disturbance was over by the time he got there.

The officer was admiring the hotel designs when hotel security told him something was going on in the bathroom and that's when he heard about a fight on his radio.

The bodyguard told the police that Jones had punched him in the head when they were in the bathroom.

The police officer told the news 8 he heard a crash in the bathroom and that's when he broke up the scuffle.

the Police Chief. Is questioning the vagueness of the report as it could "cast doubt on the officer's snd the dept's credibility.". They are hopingthe hotel will cooperate and tell them if their officer is telling the truth.

The officer has a lenghty history with internal affairs and has been written up numerous times for failure to complete police reports, spreading rumors, untruthfulness and improper investigation.

Why does that statement strike me as funny?

I surely hope Goodell didn't talk to this guy when making his decision, and if so, what that means for Pacman's future if this guy is pulling stuff out of his ***..

Sounds like there going after the cop on this one. The cop failed to file a complete report with a history of doing just the same. Lazy cop. Dont think this has much in the way of reprocussions for Pacman, more so for the cop that did not complete the report.

I wouldn't lose mine. There is no condition you could put on me that I could not meet. I don't play video games, but I would nail my rear to a chair and play them if it kept me off the streets and out of trouble.

Tom Clancy wrote it that's why it seems fishy. Lifted straight out of his next crime fiction novel.:D It's CYA Time for the police which means time to make stuff up. By the time the police is finished rewriting that report it's gonna read like this:

"While I was helping OJ, who was out on bond and staying at the hotel, with his defense because I believe you are innocent until proven guilty, I heard a faint commotion. I initially didn't think anything of it beause respectable black people were guests at the hotel. A few minutes later hotel security notified me about a distubance.

As I politely excused myself from OJ and rounded the corner, I saw a distraught Jones entering a car. Knowing how delicate and genteel Mr. Jones is, I ran over to inquire if he needed assistance. Visibly shaken, Mr. Jones stated that he tripped on his shoelaces and had fallen down some stairs but he assured me his was okay. Noticing his untied shoes, I had no reason not to believe him. I attributed his slurred words to the knock on the head he must have received from his fall not due to any alcohol consumption. I didn't notice any untoward behavior from him or any of the well-behaved, upstanding minority individuals in his company, so I let them go on their merry way." That's my story and I'm sticking to it...for the moment.
