Yay or Nay- 4 FA adds

Would anyone be upset if we added the following players this offseason?
Jerome Tuman TE Steelers- Heath Miller has played extremely well for the Steelers. He might be able to find a starting job somewhere but he could probably be had. He's from Liberal Kansas so moving closer to the midwest could pull him. But he's the solid blocking backup tight end with a little recieving talent that I think would be a big boost

Fred Beasley FB 49ers- I think this guy would be a huge add. He seems to be the type of FB that Parcells prefers and can't be happy with what is going on in SF.

Matt Wilhelm LB Chargers- Great Special teams player. He was much more athletic at the combines than I thought he would be a few years ago. The Chargers have very good depth at LB maybe it's a lack of opportunity but I think he and Shanle could do very well filling in for Dat and should come cheap. Pastabelly compares hin to Vrabel but who knows. He seems to be a solid guy that could fight for a starting spot.

Kalimba Edwards DE/OLB Lions- An undersized edge rusher. He's seems to be athletic enough to be a 3-4 OLB. His lack of bulk and liability against the run should drive his price down to a reasonable level.

There isn't alot out there that jumps at you when you look at the OL free agents, unfortunately our biggest need IMO. It seems that our only route of adding quality guys is going to be in the draft AGAIN.

no Oline? I think we could find a relatively cheap option, such as Pat OT Tom Ashworth, or Panther C Jeff Mitchell

other than that, good thinking bro

I'm not too crazy about any of the 4. None are difference makers really.

I don't think we'll be signing many difference makers, if any, this offseason

Jerry Jones has already hinted that last year's spending binge may have an adverse impact on the cap in a few years...

and we still got to save cap for Roy and Witten's salaries

I'd rather have 1 difference maker than 4 warm bodies.

Get me a Will Demps at FS.

Wow, when did he say this? Maybe he's thinking Rivera may not play through his contract?

this was quite some time ago, maybe a little after the season started, dont' have it anywhere, written down, but I remember him being asked a question, and he sounded off about the FA signings, and that they better pan out, cuz they would need them if they want to do something this year, and that's the thought process he had behind making those deals

OK so 5 warm bodies with Will Demps. Warm Bodies are a whole lot better than some of the people we are trotting out there now (i.e. Polite, Campbell and Fujita)

I see three things we need.

1. A top notch FS.

2. A replacement for Dat. Shanle is passable but not sure that he is starter material and unlike many on this board I'm not convinced that Burnett will ever be what he is hyped up to be. Plus we need an experienced ILB in there since Bradie James still makes too many mental errors even though he has played pretty well at times this year.

3. A new OL. Start with a Center, then get a couple of young guys to play behind LA and Rivera. Both are old and Rivera has not been the Pro Bowler we expected; he may need to be replaced outright. Peterman hasn't shown me a lot and the comments Parcells makes about him "having to be technically sound" tells me that his talent level is not all that great. Great talent can overcome some lapses in technique but a lesser talent requires perfect technique. I still believe that Pettiti can and will become a very good and maybe great tackle but it will take time so we need to get Flo back to full speed and somehow get his attention so we can give the help to Pettiti on the other side. We also need to start bringing along a young LT to fill in and eventually replace Flo

Who these people will be and where they will come from (FA or Draft) I have no idea but those positions should be our main focus this off season. Also, we have got to get more depth...quality depth...at WR; Key and Glenn were getting old before this season and will do nothing but get older.

1) Agreed but not sure if there are any that would qualify as that in FA maybe Chris Hope maybe
2) Wilhelm would make it a ILB by Committee next to James. Andra Davis would be good bell cow at the position but he's in the barn a little too often (i.e. trainers table)
3) I agree on adding OL talent through the draft, I think Rivera's salary makes that prohibative. I think we have to ride it out with him at least until next year.

Some of they guys that will be playing significant snaps for us next year maybe on IR right now like Thornton, Beriault

I think we probably sign a FA Center if a decent one is available, a journeyman guard...2 LB's

Beasley would be a nice fit at fullback, but more importantly than that we need O lineman badly

I like it Nate,... Edwards would be perfect, because we really need a guy with pass rush ability opposite Ware. And on Tuman, unfortunately I see Dan Campbell as pretty ineffective this year. Love his leadership and attitude, but he just isn't contributing much this year IMO.

On Wilhelm, from what I've seen poking around some Chargers boards looking for Rivers info :), it seems that at least some of them expect Leber to leave in FA and Wilhelm to take over. But I'd take Leber. He's a very smart, underrated player. Actually I'd hope Burnett would take over the Jack LB, but we can't count on that at this point.

And all of these guys would be reasonably priced.

Now... Are there any decent FA WRs available?:
