Both apparently on the hot seat.

2 decorated and most likely future HOF coaches.

We lose and don't make the playoffs how can Jerry keep Garrett?

Thoughts on possibly acquiring either coaches?

Fire them both if they can't win this pathetic division that's the worst maybe in the history of the NFCE. Or, at least that's what I hear is the standard we're implementing.

If Garrett is an 8-8 coach, then those guys are 9-7 coaches. While that win is actually a pretty big deal when it comes to coaching records, if we can't get an elite (10 win) coach I'd rather try a fresh face or just keep the one we have.

Bill Belicheat (Beat him twice for 2 SB's)
Sean Peyton (I think is the guy who can go toe to toe with anyone)
Mike Tomlin (who I don't think is elite)
Jim Harbaugh
John Harbaugh
Andy Reid

Like these are the elite coaches of the league and other than Peyton and little Bill, who Coughlin just always seems to have his number, who's a better current coach?

Is he really on the hot seat? He'd be a guy I'd actually not mind seeing in Dallas, assuming we have a vacancy.

Now it's not Giants HO saying this but talking heads on the Pergamum shows have brought it up.

This is Lawrence Taylor in an article posted 3 days ago basically saying he thinks the team needs a new voice not because Coughlin isn't credible but after a while a couches voice/message doesn't impact the same team after a while like it needs to.

http://www.nj.com/giants/index.ssf/...giants_and_tom_coughlin_should_part_ways.html

Remember Taylor was there for Parcells after his 2 championships. He's not the guy who makes the decisions but he is their HOF player and their most recognized player of all time.

If we hear Staubach talk about the owner of our team and take it with credence then surely the reported opinion of a player of LT's stature's regarding a current HC's status should hold credence too.

I can actually see that. I just never really thought about him as an option in Dallas. Conflicted a bit about it, because he's from that Parcels tree that I respect, but don't really want coaching here. That said, he's a great coach, and I like his grumpy-old-man thing he's got going on. He'd be the kind of brass-tacks guy I'd like to see in here if we were to make a change, and Parcels would be able to give him the real skinny on working with Jerry, for good or for bad.

All those angles you mention are exactly why I want him here.

He is also very used to coaching under the lime light and in high pressure situations.

He can go toe to toe with any coach in the league.

His players are prepared and accountable.

He manages his coaches well and is a coach that integrates balance on offense and pressure on defense.

This guy does not get out coached and Parcells has always said Coughlin was the best coach he ever had.

Whining Tom stays, Shanny and JG are history. Both the Skins and Cowboys have the same problem; no one in their right mind will want to take over the reins as HC of these teams...

Yeah. I really like the guy. And I like the idea of flipping the script on NY for a change and seeing us playing some of those 'what, me?' mind games in the press. He's a hell of a coach, and my *only* knock on him is the Giants connection, but I could get past that, for some reason. Normally, it'd be a deal breaker for me, but for some reason it's not as big an issue with the Giants as it is with the Sk*ns or Eagles.

Yeah, I'll take Coughlin in a heartbeat, even though right now I hate him. :)

I hate him over there too. I'd love him here.

From a media standpoint, which is very important to Jerry and our Cowboy viewership, we would be surprised how much we would enjoy his interviews.

The Giants will want to keep him because there's only 2 guys in the league in the same breath but they let him go for the same reason LT states.

NY would have to understand they would need new players and therefore a rebuild to keep him and make it work. That's not so easy. So it's coach or players? That's up to Jerry Reese and Mara.

I don't think Coughlin would want to work for Jerry unless like Idgit states, Parcells would actually have a positive skinny on Jerry to provide Coughlin.

I also agree on the perception of Jerry and Danny Snyder but believe me, owners get involved in everything all over the league, they just meddle more quietly.

Good point about the other owners, although doing it quietly suggests a level of maturity that the Jerrys and Dannys of the world lack...

Neither guy would work in this environment.

It's going to have to be another move like they did with Jimmy Johnson.

You are going to have to import the entire coaching staff like Johnson did from UM.

Now..

Who is available in college that fits that description..?

Brown..the HC leaving UT would be a perfect fit.
