2013 is coming and more veterans are about to make an exit from the Cowboys. What started in 2010 is continuing in 2013. Getting younger and getting rid of dead weight and malcontents. Most likely the list of players is going to get canned at some point in this offseason.

Jay Ratliff
Doug Free
Lawrence Vickers
Gerald Sensabaugh
Dan Connor
Nate Livings or Mackenzy Bernadeau
Marcus Spears

Then there are a couple that could possibly be out the door in:

Anthony Spencer
Miles Austin

While these veterans are most likely gone, enter a fresh group of role players, younger role players who come in to take their spots. Guys like:

Sterlin Moore
Matt Johnson
Ernie Sims
Orie Lemon
Eric Frampton
Jeremy Parnell

And other than Parnell and Johnson none of these guys are a threat to win a starting spot but are a part of the team that is probably just as important as the starters. And they are PROVEN DEPTH. Guys who can come in and play.

I titled this post a certain way because basically alot of you cant handle what you guys are asking for. Rebuild, blow it up, restart whatever you want to call it. You cant handle it. Because if you havent noticed, since 2011 Dallas has been in a rebuilding mode. They got young real quick with alot of releases of older veterans.

As of right now Dallas has 35 players who have nomore than 3 yrs NFL exp. And 39 players who have nomore than 2 yrs with this football team. If that doesnt scream rebuilding then nothing does. Its like alot of Cowboy fans dont even bother to know about their own team they cheer for. And thats a sad thing.

We all are frustrated with the way the season finished with How the last 16 yrs have finished. But if you cant handle a partial rebuild now, you sure wouldnt be able to handle a full rebuild. Some Cowboy fans know how bad it can get without a QB. And no im not talking about life after Aikman, for me it was Life after Danny White. The Quincy and company days were nothing to the final yrs of Landry era. Alot of you wouldnt even be Cowboy fans right now if Dallas would go that route.

Me personally i wasnt as disappointed in the finish this yr because i was suprised the team was even in contention with all the injuries they had. I know alot of people say well its been 16 yrs. I know that Ive been a fan those 16 yrs. But this yr this team moved in a different direction. From the dodging blame routine to the no quit until its over mindset. I liked that mindset, I like where this team is going. I might not agree with How the guy who is coaching them is doing his job. But thats besides the point. I can hate how Jerry is too loyal to his players and his coaches, but i'd rather deal with that than a owner who doesnt put all his resources into his team.

So be careful what you wish for. Because it does get alot worse than what it is now in Dallas. Just a question if youre really able to handle the frustration. And by the posts that are around these days, I'm willing to bet alot of you cant.

Well apparenty nobody gave Jerry the memo we are rebuilding because he has stated that the window is closing and when Garrett disagreed, Jerry told him to shut the hell up because "he will decide when those windows are open or closed".

Take this compared to his interview on the FAN where he was just toally pissed and said "big changes are coming" and that "8-8 is unacceptable".

Doesnt sound like an owner that thinks the team is in rebuild mode, sounds like an owner that expected a playoff appearance. You also dont talk about hiring a "consultant" to help out your HC/OC because he isnt getting the job done if you are in rebuild mode.

it actually started 2011, because Jason took over halfway thru 2010.

If we are in rebuild mode, why is Jerry going on the radio and saying "8-8 is unacceptable" and "big changes are coming".

Jerry is pretty pissed we didnt make the playoffs, doesnt sound like an owner who thinks the team is rebuilding.

Yeah windows are closing on career for Romo, Ware, Witten. They're in their prime.

Hell i expected a playoff appearance too. This team has alot of young talent. Thats been rebuilt. At the end of 2010 they were one of the oldest teams in the nfl. Now theyre one of the youngest. That spells rebuilt.

Why cant you hire a consultant? That last part made no sense on what you think is rebuilt mode.

I think when people talk about blowing it up they mean draft a QB and get a new head coach and start fresh and build from that point. I love the youth movement on this team.

Because With the talent they have assembled in the last 2 offseasons they should be in the playoffs.

Prime example is the dodgers, They got a a ton of talent at the trade deadline last yr. And were said by everybody they were WS favorites. This offseason the owners came out and said were not done building. And they went out and got more.

Point being expectations are high in Dallas. Even if some fans expect "mediocre". What should Jerry say we just want the team to try.

There are no guarantees in the draft at QB. Romo is here for the time being. Sure they can draft a QB and let him develope. And i can see that happening now.

And im refering to people who come out with things like release Romo Release Ware release everybody trade everybody all in the same post. The Madden generation.

Dallas was in the playoffs the year before they "started rebuilding" therefore they were a playoff caliber team before Jason. What exactly are they rebuilding?

"Reshuffling" is a better descriptor.

Reshuffling would be if they replace a couple players in 2011 they basically replaced a whole offensive OL. Only Free and Kosier were saves and this yr Free is gone. This past offseason Dallas replaced all of its secondary starters except for Sensabaugh and this yr he's probably gone. This offseason they also shored up their LB core with Carter coming in. WR depth was developed and now have a core of 4 wrs. So Dallas has basically 2 areas to improve now. OL and DL. If in 2013 these are still problem areas as they have been then ill change stance. But other then these two areas this team is solid. Because of how they REBUILT the team in 2 offseason

Name me one playoff team that has hired a "consultant" to help out their head coach.

1. You assume this is rebuilding when the expectations of management suggests they think they have a shot and say so each year.

2. You assume if it truly is rebuilding that people cannot handle it because of their opinions contrary to yours.

3. There has been one example of the team being rebuilt that showed what rebuilding is all about. From 1989 to 1992 you saw progress, a focus, a leader in the head coaching position unfettered by an owner that has to be the final arbiter of every football decision now.

There was a sense of urgency, decision making that wasn't mystical in its reasoning behind what was transpiring. And results each year that indicated the team was actually making progress.

Your example of what is rebuilding is actually churning the roster, so your title and theory is off a little.

4. I have been a fan of this team for a very long time. I cannot speak for others, but I can say rebuilding is not scary for me. What is scary is a listless, rudderless management that has no central theme to what is happening.

A management that seems to believe Romo's success means that fielding walk ons is a hidden gold mine other teams haven't figured out yet.

There is a footprint to what is going on and it is a management that is based on no management style I have ever seen, with the workers being able to walk around the boss to the owner.

A management that had a head coach, and hired his successor while the head coach was still here, making the successor the assistant head coach and ultimately undermining the man that was hired to lead the team.

This type of undermining is what gleans the results we have seen for a decade and a half.

This gives you the complacency and malcontentment you see since it creates a theme of entitlement in the company culture.

I offer for you the man behind the curtain that pulls all the strings telling the world the 2009 draft was a special teams draft.

And we are reaping the reward from that naivete by not having a foundation of players that should be manning the grunt work of places like the offensive line and defensive line.

There should be starters from that draft, but instead we have a black hole of talent that sucks the life from the team because of mismanagement.

The players that should be stepping up now and taking starting positions went down the road because of a foolish idea, even in a weak draft, that staying put and grabbing Joe Suck was great because he can play special teams.

Sorry, I do not subscribe to your theory. I think it is wrong in its label, and ignores the hapless, rudderless, no goals leadership that continues to turn in their homework and get Cs.

Who says its a consultant to help the coach? It couldnt be a football guy to come in and help out with every aspect of the team? Ur basically complaining and trying to refute a aspect of the team that doesnt even exist at this point. I dont know what they mean by consultant and neither do you but ur trying to see it as a negative when it hasnt even happened.

Dude,
Jerry is a salesman first and foremost. He's going to tell anyone anything to try to restore confidence that they are going to be better by "making changes". The first thing fans think of is changes are improvements so fans will keep buying tickets, jerseys and anything else he sells.
If he got on the radio and said, "we're good to go for next year with what we have", you would have seen North Dallas explode. Once the inital frustration subsides in a few days or weeks, he'll anounce that he's hiring another consultant who will have more strings on their hands and feet and come the end of April, JJ will go back to his old lines. "We were just 1, 2 or 3 plays or wins away from the playoffs".
Everyone moves on and gets gitty about the draft and pumped about next year and we're back to square one.

First ill say i am no Jason garrett fan.

Then ill answer you by saying just cause you dont see Garrett as a leader means nothing. You dont matter to the team. This team loves the guy and they do see him as their leader.

Youre honestly going to tell me you didnt see no difference in the play of this team from 2011 to 2012? Factor in the injuries and tell me this team didnt fight until they couldnt anymore. Tell me they wouldnt have made the playoffs without the injuries.

Jerry himself has said 2009 was horrible. But why cant you talk about 2010, 2011, and 2012. You know the 3 drafts that make up the core of this team?

That's doubtful. Especially if you listen to the interview he was not implying bringing in a "football" guy. It has something to do with HC/OC especially when he came out and directly stated that the team needs to get better at the fundamentals. That doesn't sound like he is bringing in a "football" guy. Sorry on this you are off base on.

I have listened to the interview and Jerry didnt say anything that would lead anybody to say what kind of guy would be brought in or if anybody would be brought in. Media took what he said and are bring up their own conclusions
