You guys still consider the Packers a rival? IMO I dont see Dallas as much of a rivalry like it was in the 90's. You guys owned us and we owned the 49ers. Dallas and SF was like the Colts vs Pats in the 2000's. Both teams were always battling for the super bowl title. I do respect Dallas alot. I enjoy watching the old games where Aikman, Smith and Irvin were playing. I found alot of games on You tube. We get to play each other this year in Dallas. Maybe the new Cowboys stadium will give us some good fortune. Texas stadium we could never win there.

Glad to see another team fan, giving another team props. Cant wait to play aaron rodgers and the packs. GO COWBOYS. :starspin

I don't really see the Pack as a rival.
However, compared to most non-divison games, I supect Green Bay, San Francisco, and Pittsburgh games are the three at the top...

We haven't been rivals for a while IMO. My God, the good old days (at least for me). You guys gave me a scare in that '95 NFC Chapionship Game. I just watched that again yesterday. Good luck to your team this season (until you play us of course). :)

Did you ever. Green Bay is my VERY distant 2nd favorite team and I grew up in the Bay Area. It was a blast rubbing it in 49ers fans' faces when Green Bay would beat them time after time after time. Favre is despised in the Bay and for good reason.

The only time SF beat Green Bay in that era is when T.O. caught that last-second TD in the playoffs... but even that was shady, as it came right after Jerry Rice lost a fumble but was ruled down.

As for your question, no I don't. My perspective is a little skewed because I like the Packers. But I bet most Packers fans dislike the Cowboys strongly and consider them a rival.

Its been too long since they met in the playoffs. That makes rivalries die because all the players from that era are gone. When both teams are viewed a serious super bowl contenders at the same time and they have to meet in the playoffs, that rivalry will quickly come back.

In the 90's Dallas was the much better team then us. There was no question about it. We did beat you in GB but after that the rivalry was gone. We did lose to you in Dallas in 1999 but we didnt play again you guys again tell 2004 when the Cowboys came to Lambeau.

The 2000's haven't been that bad either, we're 2-3 against the Packers in the last 12 years. This is with Vinny and Kitna losing 2 of them.

Our team's biggest rival is our front office, everyone else is pretty much irrelevant.

The 2007 game where the Cowboys and Packers came into the game each with a 10-1 record seemed to to have a big time playoff feel to it. It was electric.

Anytime you can get two traditional NFL crown jewel type franchises together in a game like that is special. Beyond the Packers maybe only the Steeler and 49ers would feel anything like that (outside of conference games of course).

I went to that game with 2 Packer friends, the stadium was crazy. We still talk about that game today, more me than them...

I don't really consider the Packers much of a rival anymore but any time we can play the elite teams of the NFC it's as close to a rivalry game as you can get. Hopefully both teams have a lot on the line when we meet this year. Looking forward to the game.

You youngins don't remember the Lombardi - Landry days and the ice bowl.
I lost a sale for a horse when the Packers went for the quarterback sneak to win the game in the last seconds. A man came to the house to look at a horse I had for sale and I wouldn't show it to him until I could see the outcome of that last play. I lost the game and the sale. What a rivalry in that era and the Cowboys kept coming up on the short end of the stick, but how sweet it was in the 1990s.

Yes. The rivalry kind of fizzled from there because of our inability to put together playoff teams consistently.

If we get back to that level and the Packers stay there, the rivalry will return because like you said, traditional NFL crown jewel-type franchises are involved.

Jerry Kramer false started on the QB Sneak in the Ice Bowl.

Still boils me.

Is that the game where we knocked Favre out with a db blitz and Aaron Rodgers came in and actually looked really good?

Yep -- that was everyone's (other than Packer fans who watched him in preseason games) first glimpse of Aaron Rodgers.

My recollection of the game is he instantly looked better than Favre and brought them on a pretty good comeback before faltering at the end.

You have to think his performance in that game contributed quite a bit in the Packers's decision to move on from Favre and started Rodgers the next season.

He had played garbage time in another two games but that was my reaction too.

It's hard to have a rivalry with any non-NFC East team when you rarely make the playoffs.

:(
