LB Darrick Brownlow.

On the team in 1991.

1992 the Cowboys win the Super Bowl. He had been released.

1993 they win it again.

In 1994 he was back on the team.

1995 he was off the team again and again the Cowboys win the Super Bowl.

The poor sap.

The King of Trivia and I say that with genuine affection and respect. Enjoyed that tidbit. Poor guy.

He was bad luck.
You have to wonder if his teammates thought he was a jinx. Athletes can be so superstitious.

The flipside of this is guys who bust their *** for years and years, retire, then see their old team win it all the very next year. Gotta be agonizing.

Speaking of that, wasn't Brownlow also the guy whose helmet Aikman inadvertently slammed his thumb into in practice that week leading up to the 49ers game in the '94 regular season?

reminds me of the Don Mattingly thing with the Yankees. they won the world series the year before he got there and didn't win it again till the year after Don's last season.

Darrin Nelson one of the 5 veteran players the Cowboys got in the Walker trade refused to play for the Cowboys because they were so bad. Several games into the 89 season the Chargers picked him up. When they released him after the 90 season he noticed the Cowboys appeared to be up and coming and reports have it that he called Jimmy and asked if could play for them now and Jimmy hung up on him. :lmao:

He must have sucked by that point then ...... Jimmy would have played a guy who ran over his momma if they were any good.

By that point the Cowboys had Emmitt Smith.

As a fellow Yankee fan, I just knew you'd raise his name. ;)
