AMEN! And I get the negative downers. I mean, I'm happy we won; I don't think it means anything, and I do lament the possibility of dropping out of the top 5 in the draft, though we are far too early to say that. We win, I'm happy and lament the draft selection. We lose, I'm sad, truly, so I comfort myself with the draft selection.
But I have to seriously wonder what goes on in the mind of any fan who could Cheer when the Skins tied the game or were praying and pulling for Bailey to miss that FG so we'd lose. (BTW, I'm not saying the guy who laughed at the TD was actually happy...that's just an ironic laugh at the whole season, and I get that). Were there fans actually cheering for the Skins to score? Celebrating Jackson's TD? Hoping Bailey would miss the FG and all the players would be heartbroken and sick...all over where we end up in the draft?
A team isn't just a star, a stadium, or even Lombardy Trophies. A team is made of men who want to win so badly that they go out there with cracked ribs, sprained ankles and knees, concussions, dislocations, and they battle to win. YES, our team sucks this year, but how can one not be happy they defeated their most hated arch rival in their own stadium? We can lament the draft thing, but how can you not be happy for the TEAM?
