There's a huge group of posters on the board I don't agree with on given topics but who make good and reasonable arguments that are well worth engaging. You just have to pick your spots.

bbgun, clearly I'm not one of your favorite posters, which is fine by me; I do want to say for the record that I don't think you're a mindless hater and you probably crack me up more than all but a handful of CZ posters. I rarely agree with you, but it's not personal with me.

There *is* a group of posters on the board who I think don't know what they're talking about and are pointlessly negative about a good team on just about every topic. I feel comfortable mocking their outlook rather than engaging with them rationally because I don't see the point of a reasoned debate with them. They are by no means a majority on the board, and there are plenty of posters with negative takes about topics that I either agree with or have no rational problem with.

Re: the Adam quote, you've brought that up a number of times since I made it as if you expect I'd back away from it. It's not homo-erotic, and it's not hero-worship. I value smart posters who are informative. That's why I spend so much time on this site. Adam's one of the very smartest and best informed posters we've got. That's a newsflash? Clearly that's threatening to you in some way, but I'm not sure why.

Yes, that does indeed qualify as a newsflash, unless you've somehow convinced yourself that niche knowledge about the cap = raw intelligence. I know plenty of dummies/social introverts who know all about stamp collecting. Big deal. I'm also curious as to why he's an "analyst" here but a self-described "expert" at the Ranch, but we can unravel that mystery at a later date. Your publicly-declared mancrush was embarrassing and cringe-inducing, that's all. Worse, you coupled it with a nasty, condescending putdown of the intelligence of his detractors (yes, they really do exist), which seems to be a habit of yours. Time for a little self-reflection.

I stand by every word of it. I appreciate that you'd take the time to be embarrassed for me. It's sort of sweet in the way that things that are creepy and co-dependent are sometimes sweet.

The condescension wasn't because people were detracting Adam's point. It was directly aimed at their intellect in general if that helps keep it in context.

I'll give the suggested time for self-reflection the consideration it deserves, though. Ok. Self-reflecting done. You were right, there was something nasty stuck in my teeth. Thanks!

My avatars are clues. I will usually catch a movie's preview months in advance, which I really REALLY want to see. That's when I'll add an avatar with some sort of connection to that movie and keep it there until the film's release.
