Unger At gaurd

I wish we would have gone after Colin Cole from Green Bay to backup Rat but Seattle beat us again at 6-1 #330 he would have been nice

Unger isn't first-string, though. The Seahawks' starting guard (and a second-stringer) missed the game with an injury.

I thought I read that Unger was going to take over at center and they might move Chris Spencer to guard.

YAKUZA

Jeebus. Could we just sticky a Max Unger Regret thread and keep it up all year?

At least the Mendenhalls and Merrimans were available when we picked.

Unger played half the game at center and the other half at guard.

They might eventually, but they're not at that point yet. Spencer just returned from an injury and is starting. Unger is third-string at both guard and center. He started tonight because the right guard (Mansfield Wrotto) missed the game, the second-string guard (Ray Willis) played right tackle, and the right tackle (Sean Locklear) played left tackle because Walter Jones missed the game, too.

Randy Moss turned out to be a better player than Greg Ellis...:bang2:

We missed Unger by one pick. That is the way it goes.

Imagine the backlash if we would have traded up a few spots for him.

And to top it off someone traded in front of us.

There was nothing we could do.

Exactly.

Except for those who think we should have traded up because Unger was sliding and would be taken at any moment. Watching the draft I was almost expected us to do that.

Unger is huge news around here.................

He went to the local private High School (Hawaii Preparitory Academy) here in Waimea on the Big Island. Most every area or local has a kid or two........or more who make it to the big time. But our little town, on the slopes of Mauna Kea, is probably more like a village. Only about 14,000 folks I think.

I never met him, but I know some of the coaches and many of the other kids. By all acounts, he's a good kid and a hell of an O-Lineman who could play anywhere on the O-line. He probably won't be a starter this year unless the guys in front of him remain injured (which is why he started last night). But he WILL be next in line @ both gaurd AND center.

I watched that game last night against the Chargers and didn't see anything that would say that he didn't at least hold-his-own in there.

Waimea also has the best restaurants on the Big Island IMHO.

who wanted one year wonder Mendenhall - I sure did not

He looks a bit overpowered at times though, but his versatility would have been sweet.

We could have had him and all the same picks minus lets say Brewster, and Johnson.

I think in a year he will be real nice
