Austin - Not hearing of many drops, and it seems he's really made improvement vs. last year.

Hurd - I think he'll end up being the number 3 WR the way it's looking (unless we trade for someone). He seems to be much more physical, running great routes, and catching well.

Amendola - O.K. We've all read the press clippings . . . . . He seems to be consistent, to say the least. Few dropped balls (if any), excellent route running, making catches on vet CBs and rookies alike. Doesn't seem to be intimidated.

TEs
Bennett - Well, after all the "questionable" articles written on this guy during mini-camps, etc., (concering grasping the playbook, dropping passes ) he seems to be doing pretty well for a rookie in his first TC. He's making some catches, and though he's having trouble blocking Ellis and Ware . . . . well, who doesn't? I think he can be a good one.

LBs
Carp - He seems to be in position and he's making strides. He's already a very good ST player, but maybe the light is really coming on for him now? From what I've read, he's much more physical this year as well. I pleasantly surprised from what I've been reading about him the last couple of days.

DL
Actually, I think Canty, Spears, Ratliff, Hatcher and Tank are all doing pretty well. This group is making great strides.

CBs
AJ - Great attitude, taking the competition head on, is shaking off the rust. I think he's going to be BIG for us this season. And he's causing no problems thus far either.

Think you can throw Doug Free in there. Understand he's looking good, although he still has problems stopping Ware, but who doesn't. He needs get a lot of snaps in preseason games so his development continues.

Would also add Felix to that list.

3rd year players -- Austin, Hurd, and Carpenter must step up this year. Three years is long enough to wait for potential to develop and contribute.

Time to perform as needed or get out!
