Having watched Guyton now for almost an entire season I have no doubt he can start and improve as year 2 looms for the big guy .

Remember he’s gone up against some premier edge rushers out of Cleveland Pittsburgh SF and Guyton held his own .

Two questions I have is if you move him to RT to take some pressure off him I’m not opposed to that but it means Tyler Smith is the permanent LT no more moving him around .

Or leave him at LT but that means Steele remains a starter which makes the OL weaker .

The situation that baffles me is starting Edoga down the stretch . Guyton unless injured needs all these reps right before a long vacation starts .

I think he’s your RT for the future with Bass & Beebe as your guards Hoffman center Tyler Smith premier LT. And for those critics of Will McClay that’s 2 starting OL out of last yrs draft plus a Tyler Smith home run pick in the past remaking what was getting to be an aging OL
Dont rule out Richards at one of the OT spots.

I do like the idea of Tyler at LT and Guyton at RT. I think we are deep on the interior and could field a strong OL in 2025 like that

I will say the idea of Tyler at RT really intrigues me as well. I think he is well suited to that spot, which is the real engine of your run game. At RT you are also going to be facing elite rushers consistently. He would be the second coming of Erik Williams at RT

Why are we talking about moving Guyton? He was a late 1st round pick and expected to struggle a bit . I would give him another two years and coach the hell out him. OLine rookies struggling isn't unsual at all.

BTW.....Guyton wasn't drafted as an experiencement. He was draft as our future LT.........meaning he's going to get 3-4 to prove himself AND Tyler homes is now officially LG.

I have not given up on Guyton but I think he needs to get stronger in the off-season, especially in the upper body. He struggles controlling rushers with his hands. I also wonder about his toughness. It could be the injuries, but I do not know that for certain. Lots of offensive linemen struggle their rookie seasons and come back better each year. We'll see if that applies to Guyton.
Guyton needs to be stronger physically between the ears.

With the glaring deficit on the defensive line , it's imperative that we can get this existing oline crew to be the future.

We simply can't use draft or free agent capitol to improve the offensive line because of the continuous failure of the current defensive roster.

This current oline has the potential to be above average and they should win most of their battles

Let me preface this by saying I do think another offseason trying to get stronger could help Guyton have a better year in year 2. With that said though I really struggle to see the optimism on the kid with his play from his rookie season. Tyler Guyton was among the worst Tackles in all of football this season. The idea that he’s held his own against the best edge rushers is a little misleading as well. He’s had some solid games, SF comes to mind, but for the most part Guyton has been going up against teams #2 guy. Week 1 against Cleveland I believe Guyton only went against Myles Garrett for about 12 snaps or so.

There isn’t a player I’ve soured on more this year than Guyton. He certainly has the physical tools to make me look foolish with that comment but his play this year has been awful and him not getting snaps last week tells me there may be more issues behind the scenes.
It’s a long season I feel like he needs a break mentally. They set him up for failure this year

Think about it they traded down and took him. They didn’t value him enough not to risk losing him to someone else

Yeah I'm doing nothing but assuming here, but McCarthy had a quote a couple weeks ago on Guyton about him just needing to be more available. I wonder if Guyton and the team had different feelings on his injury status when he was missing time? Thats always something that can get a young player in the doghouse quick if the coaches feel they are trying to duck practice with a bad excuse.
This is nice sweet way of saying he's soft........not the hardest worker on the team. Trust me, this isn't just Mike talking ( he just the messenger ) but what he's also hearing from assistent coaches and teammates.

The offensive line is the least of our worries. You left out Richards who played well until he was injured. You have to let Guyton, Smith, Bebe, Hoffman, Bass, Steele, and Richards continue to play together. Use one of the comp picks for another versatile developmental piece.

If Guyton doesn't mature and become more mentally tough he is going to bust out in my opinion.

Yes he has to realize the real world doesn’t pay millions . This Dallas job could set him up for life . It’s a maturity problem I would suspect . He has the physical tools to stop an Edge rusher in his tracks .

Thomas the late draft pick in 24 went IR almost immediately.. He should be added to the mix of depth in 25 unless he’s a total wash

Good analysis. I didn’t mean to leave Richards out was just thinking he was depth. Sure he can start at LT switch Guyton to RT that’s not a bad option at all . Then your guards are Hoffman Smith with Beebe at C . Bass & Steeie depth plus Thomas the 7th rounder from this last draft .

To be honest with the Smith Beebe Guyton picks plus some of the UDFA success Dallas has had in the OL I’ve always thought the 25 draft needs to get help on the defensive side of the ball and RB .

Have not considered a high OL pick for this coming draft at all .
I agree. I don't want to see the pick used on OL. Right now, we have multiple options for each position to figure out the best lineup: Guyton, Richards and Smith at LT, Smith, Bass, Beebe and even Richards at LG, Beebe and Hoffman at C, Beebe, Hoffman and Bass at RG and Guyton and Steele at RT.

I'd throw Waletzko in there too, but I need to see more of him. His play at RT was better this preseason than the previous year but still not great, but I still think we did him a disservice not keeping him at LT. I wouldn't count on him, but I'd give him every shot to at least be one of the top backups.

If it wasn’t for him, we wouldn’t have CD lamb. We almost went to the playoffs with the backup quarterback. With the back up offensive line. And a depleted defense. Some of your people just don’t have a clue i. This is the first season since 2020 that we’re not going to the playoffs.

Drafting Kelvin Banks Jr would solve the Guyton issue.
If all my top targets are off the board and Banks somehow drops take the sure fire safe player.

If the Dallas Cowboys youtubers circuit are all echoing the same 'rumor'...

It's by design to apply pressure to the player while also conditioning the fans about the player.

Kid is young and has time to rebound...but rumors started flying too quick on this kid, which is concerning.

Anyone critical of McClay needs to be on medication. We may be the best drafting FO in the league, certainly in the top 3.
