Hmmm, I think we're actually safe on the yards record... though who knows. I have no idea what the Saints were doing to give up that many yards. I wonder of it's related to their offense scoring so much.

Anytime even Jerry admits around midseason that he might have made a mistake letting Ryan go, you know he retrets having made an ill-advised premature decision with respect to Ryan's dismissal. I'm not a Ryan fan but even the most casual of observers could see that was a knee-jerk premature decision that was made at the time. I do believe it's entirely possible Ryan's mouth may have rendered himself undesirable to both Jerry and JG.

It had nothing to do with Ryan. Somebody needed to be fired to show that Jerry was "doing something" after everyone was calling for Garrett's head. Ryan was let go as a scapegoat to protect Jerry's Golden Boy.

Monte Kiffin and the switch back to the 4-3 was just another distraction, something to get people talking about all the sacks Ware was going to get in the new system other than another failed season by the head coach. it was ignorant and, as you said, knee-jerk. This team was not prepared or particularly well suited to switch to a Tampa 2, and it was not done for anything resembling football reasons.

There is no excuse for this. If Kiffin had any respect for this team, he would resign. He should have stepped down at the mid season point. Every single coach on the staff needs to go. This is the result of hiring an outdated coach with an outdated scheme. It was a very bad hire by a very bad GM and Garrett should be fired for supporting the hire. This stinks. Just think of the records that have been set over the last couple of years. Last year it was team records for all-time lows in rushing the ball. Now, it is NFAl records for the worst defense. Add in the record that the Packers set with comeback and it gives a good indication of how low this team has sunk.

In addition, we should never have abandoned the 3/4 , we just don't have the personal to run the 4/3.
We have man corners, that are being asked to play zone, Carter and Ware have regressed.
The defense is an epic fail !

I'm surprised honestly that the numbers aren't worse. They're historically bad obviously, but I would've bet '13 Dallas defense would've been on pace to break records in all those categories.

Only one that looks like a sure thing would be passing yards allowed.

A chance to be record breakers...holy moly. Imagine this, the one record was set back in 1981...

It is a sad state of affairs when we as fans are busy charting the potential for our D to post ignominious records by season's end and worrying that we will go down as one of the worst defenses in NFL history. I didn't think it could get much worse a couple years ago. Now, I feel like the 2013 Cowboys are like a dying pet that, even though you love your pet, the suffering it is going through is causing you great pain and anguish. Part of you wants to see your pet put out of its misery (losing tomorrow to Wash) and a part of you thinks, even though it would take a miracle for your pet to recover (win SB) that keeping it alive a bit longer (beat Wash) at least gives it a chance for that miracle to happen. Oh Jerry. How do I loathe what you have done to us for greater than a decade and a half.

Good post...................alot of Cowboy fans are conflicted right now.....................they will not root against the team, but making the playoffs will send the message to Jerry that what he is doing is working and nothing will change.
