Your biggest reason for optimism

Jerry MAY have listened to some suggestions, but there's no way in hell he didn't make the final decisions.
He always has ........ if not, Johnny football would have been in Dallas.

But he always makes the decision and if its a direction he does not like ....... he will not do it and could care less what anyone thinks.

This is an easy one new Year new attitude..

I take these years one by one they're all a one off it's week by week and when it's over we're back in March talking about the new league here I put everything behind me... It's OK to be patient waiting on your 6th Championship.

Our O can still put up points….im just not sold on what we did on D, BIG questions at Lb, CB, and end still. We got Gary, who was never a big time player and drafted an end that many looked at as a bit of a reach in the first, not OVERLY impressive in college…so olb/end is still who knows. Durant was a good pick up, but is Bland gonna continue to be mediocre like he has been since his pick 6 season and is Revel going to be any good? And with LB, yeah we traded for Winters, but is he going to be enough, is D-Mo going to return to form of a couple years ago pre injury, is he gonna stay healthy? Lots of what ifs…..the O is the side we KNOW can perform….so they are why I’m optimistic. If we have moderate improvement on D, we can be back in playoffs.
Very nice job.
I couldn't have summarized things any better myself. I share pretty much all your defensive concerns as well.

BUT... Besides sharing your defensive personnel opinions I ultimately struggle with both offensive tackles making it through a full season as effective passblockers and then Dak's ability to beat 4 straight playoff teams is very challenging for me to see.

Thanks for sharing with the board.
The board should know by now ....... Jerry is a lunatic.

Thanks for sharing with the board that you think a heavy drinking, 84 year old, billionaire, narcissist has suddenly changed after hiring another puppet head coach who no other team would have hired as head coach.

It was obvious. Just about everybody believes this.
Nobody believes it, not even you. Yes, I am saying that you are being dishonest about this. You know damn well that nothing has changed at all regarding Jerry.

Guys like you have been trying to float this "Jerry has changed" / "Jerry has stepped back" / "McCLay is the REAL GM" bull feces for at least two decades.

'Could not care less' but I agree 100%.

The coaches picked the assistants that they wanted.

Its what he does ....... in a few months, when its business as usual, he will claim he never believed Jerry.

I hope Brian Schottenheimer has a fantastic career as Dallas' head coach. That kind of success would help end this franchise's decades-long playoff futility.

Yet, what might happen in the future does not create amnesia of the past. Schottenheimer was not a stranger to Jerry Jones. He was on his coaching staff for three years before he interviewed for the job. Then a second interview was necessary for Jones to further weigh his thoughts. Then it took Jones another two days to formally announce his decision.

Something was working against Jones' lifelong gut in making the decision. That in itself did not increase my expectations of Schottenheimer. It decreased them. Here's hoping on-the-field results will pump them back up.

 I deserved it! That particular phrase needles the heck out of me. And Jones does not care a FLIP what other people think UNLESS you hammer him over something for a long time. And there is no guarantee even really tangible peer pressure can cut through the embedded-to-the-bone narcissism.
