Your guess... who will be the odd man out?

If we actually get pac man...and he actually plays this year, and we draft a CB who pans out..then wow....there is 2 possible odd men out on D

Henry or RW.....

i think roy has to be worried he is on his way out the door, and if we cant cut him because of cap(i heard next year we will save money by cutting him) then we will probably bench him...and make him a LB in nickle situations

Henry as FS.....Hamlin at SS....and if we still need corner back depth..then in Nickle situations...we move Newman to the inside or pac man....henry to the outside...then sub Watkins or Roy at Safety..(i prefer Watkins)

that could work.....

ok but what about if we draft a CB and he turns out to be a diamond?...i know we won't let him ride it out at 4th cb...especially if we want to give him playing time....

That could mean Roy is really out the door or the bench...and Anthony henry has a permanent spot at FS.....

Ok then you have to come up with cash if Pac man does pan out....Newman, and hamlin....we gotta let 1 or 2 walk.....i say RW and Hamlin...we need our skill players, hamlin is good but, i think henry could be better...and Watkins who is Def better than Roy, will come cheap

Man it sucks we will see some of our Favorite players and Best walk soon...unless Jerry can some hold on until 2010 if its an Un capped year

Face it....Roy is a goofy player....knocks players off pursuit, takes piss poor angles, misses tackles, is a nice soft hitter now. and is dead slow..i wont mind seeing this guy leave

Secondary i would want

Cb-Newman, Pacman,Henry(if we keep hamlin, he can sub here on nickle) Draft Pick, Ball, Draft Pick
FS-Henry(on nickle, if we keep hamlin, Watkins comes here, he goes to corner)
SS-Watkins or Hamlin(if we can keep him)

What do you guys see happening?

I just can't see us benching him. Fact is, we are stuck with him and his good and bad for at least this year.

Newman, Henry, and Jones will rotate so that if we only have 2 CBs on the field for a given play one guy will be getting a breather.

Hamlin and Roy will be the safeties much to the dismay of many.

We don't have the numbers at CB. If we get pacman and draft a CB, we will. Could be Henry's last year here, but this has zero effect on Roy Williams.

Even if we draft a safety, it'd likely mean that we won't be re-upping Hamlin's contract next year.

I feel ya. If Roy has another subpar season, it's probably a done deal that he's a goner (although I don't think he's half as bad as most like to think he is). I'd like to see us try and keep Hamlin, but with the retards like Al Davis out there throwing money to these guys like they're Pacman at a strip joint, it's going to cost us.

I'd really like to see us get a tweener CB/FS guy and move Hamlin over to SS, but if that proves too costly, we could get a mid/late SS like Zbikowski, Johnson, or Barber and try and coach him up.

I'm not sure what route we will go, but it's going to need to be addressed in the next year.

Exactly....Wade said there will be many changes made to the D...so i can't wait to see what he comes up with....at least i can safely say they will try hard not to put Roy in Danger(which is coverage)

I dont think you've got an odd man out, this year. What I think could happen, possibly, is if Pacman pans out at CB, and they go ahead and do the smart thing of drafting another in the first, then next offseason you'll see Roy get cut and either Henry moved, or Watkins get his shot at FS while moving Hamlin to FS. If they go with Watkins that means they're cutting Henry as well.

For this year you'd use the drafted corner in the 4 spot, provided there are no lengthy injuries, or what not, to the guys in front of him to allow him to get his feet wet in the pro game before you begin depending on him next year.

The reason this seems most like to me is this...you'll cut Henry and Roy to make room for the new deal you're giving Newman so that in 09 your corners are Newman, Pacman, the 08 draft pick and your safeties are Hamlin, Watkins, and 09 draft pick and/or Brown.

tnew700 we won't save money by cutting roy. we will still have to take a cap hit it just wouldn't be as big as if we did it this offseason.

Lot of "if's" in this whole thing. Anyway, if Pacman works out & if our new drafted CB (say either Aquib or Cason) also looks pretty good (doubt he gets much playing time unless 1 of our starting CBs gets hurt) in 08 season, then we'll enter 09 season with Pacman & Newman (presume we able to re-sign him) starting & draft pick as #3 CB in the slot -- unless Newman moves to slot coverage & draft pick plays opposite Pacman. Henry would probably move to FS if we can't re-sign Hamlin and/or RWilliams isn't brought back for 09 season. Of course, the whole question will be if Pacman can walk the straight and narrow for a few years.

We won't draft a CB if we get henry. Thats why we are trading a pick to get him so we don't have to take a 50/50 shot on an unproven. Jerry has also stated he won't be taking a WR in the first round so that leaves us to? HB and what?
