Aside from yesterday's loss, what were your biggest gut-wrenching Cowboys losses that you saw? Here are mine...

@Cincy in '85 - OK, we got our butts kicked a good one in this(Chris Collinsworth just burned us all game long), but what sickened me about this loss was that we had TEN days to prepare coming off of Thanksgiving, and we just came out very lethargic. If memory serves, Tom Landy pulled a Wade Phillips and gave his team an entire week off.

@Giants in '86 - we were rolling at 6-2...until Danny White AND Gary Hogeboom went down for the season...leaving us with Steve Peluer(sp). We had a chance to win it at the end, but once it looked like we got into FG range, a holding penalty negated it. We subsequently only won 1 more game the rest of the season.

Miami in '93 on Thanksgiving - Leon Lett, 'nuff said.

@Philly in '95 - 4th and 1, 'nuff said.

@Philly in '97 - We were well on our way to slamming the door shut when we had 1st and goal at the 5...until penalty after penalty pushed us back into tough FG range instead. We made the FG to go up by 6, but you take away the penalties, we likely would have gone up by 10 instead, and end game right there. Subsequently, the Eagles drove down the field on their last possession for the winning score.

@Minny Mon Night in '99 - We dominated the Vikings throughout the first half. We not only had missed FGs by Cunningham in the 1st half, but the botched snap by Stepnoski late in the half swung the momentum to Minny...they ended up scoring, and their offense caught into rhythm all of a sudden as they were doing next to nothing up to that point.

Pitt in '04 - Keyshawn was open late in the 4th that would have sealed the game, but a miscue by Ritchie Anderson on Vinny gave the ball back to Pitt to set up their winning score.

Skins in '05 - the 2 minute meltdown really ruined The Triplets Ring of Honor that night.

@Seattle in '05 - we beat them up physically throughout the first 58 minutes of the game...only for the Hawks to light up fireworks with 10 unanswered pts to win the game. Cortez missing that chip shot earlier was THE killer.

Denver on Thanksgiving in '05 - to quote Wade Phillips, "the better team lost". We dominated the Broncs at the LOS, and stuffed their run game a good one...only for Cundiff to blow that kick in the 4th, and then some former 1st round Heisman bust to run roughshod on us in OT. We had other blown opportunities too like Newman's dropped pick6.

@Philly in '06 - another game where we practically dominated the opposition for 3 quarters, only for the floodgates to break open in the 4th. Another game where we blew several opportunities to blow it wide open.

@Skins in '06 - one minute it looked like we had another Romo win in the bag, the next, some bizarre twist of events that only happens once in a century happened.

The playoff loss in Seattle (the Romo dropped snap).

I freaking lost it and punched a two holes in a sheet rock wall and broke my remote after slamming it to the floor.

I was pissed for like 2 weeks, didnt watch a down of football the rest of the playoffs and casually watched the SB with my brother that year (mainly for the TV ads).

All of the Super Bowl losses; last year's playoff loss to the Giants; the NFC title game losses to the Niners, Eagles, and Foreskins.

No regular season losses can top those. As far as just regular season games, yesterday is right at at the top of the list.

I won't count Playoff or Superbowl losses as those are givens.

However losing to the expansion team Texans was probably the worst off the top of my head. You can make good arguments for other games due to playoff implications, losing it after being ahead and a multitude of other games....But losing to an expansion team Texans was the worst for me, for obvious reasons.

If no playoff or SB counts then this thread is worthless.....regular season games are nothing....

Hogeboom was gone before the '86 season started. Pelluer was responsible for the terrible end to a season that had begun so well.

The 1981 NFC Championship Game (San Fran) and Super Bowl XIII are equally the worse losses I have ever experienced as a Cowboys fan.

Those games, plus yesterday.

BTW, I was at the 06 Skins game.

Finally, someone posts the most iconic loss in Cowboys history. The Catch. The freaking Catch. I was like 11 at the time, and it was the last time I cried after a loss. THAT was the most notable, most deflating, most heartbreaking loss. I don't think another comes close - maybe Jackie's dropped TD in the end zone, but overall, the 81 game is on another planet compared to yesterday.
