Taking into consideration that Ratliff shouldn't play this week with almost 3 weeks of rest and Tank coming in after the midseason point. Do you think the Cowboys would be better off with Ratliff starting in place of Spears and playing Tank at NT for the playoffs? I truly believe for us to be a dominating defense, Spears has to be somewhere on the sideline and Ratliff at his natural postion of DE.

Tank should be fresh enough to play major snaps in the playoffs. Spears just isn't getting it done from a pressure stand point. I think his lack of pressure will be the downfall of this team getting over the hump. Ratliff is even better than Spears in the run game. It's overdue if you ask me, that Spears should get just enough snaps to keep guys like RAtliff and Tank fresh.

Whacha think?

I think Dallas does not make any big moves heading into the playoffs and expect Spears who has been playing better to continue to start.

Better when compared to a scrub! His one play every 3 games is better than his usual play every 4 games.

You don't experiment going into the playoffs. If the Dallas coaches did not like the job Spears was doing he would not be starting all 15 games thus far and you sure don't make these changes now.

You mean like playing Glenn at the number 3 WR during the playoffs without having played all year. It's not an experiment when both of the players have played the position before THIS year.

Ratliff has been playing near a Pro Bowl level, so why would you tweak that?

Spears and Johnson are both playing fine and there is no reason to move them.

That's a different issue.

Glenn, depending upon his health is still better than Crayton, Hurd and Austin.

With Owens going down, we could lack some depth in the Receiving core and Glenn's return is extremely important.

When arguably your best receiver last year is healthy and ready to go, you do not keep him on the sidelines, that wouldn't make sense.

Did you see our offense after Owens went down? Why wouldn't you want a healthy Glenn in your line up?

It's a win/win, that's why. You improve your run defense and pass rush at the DE spot and you get your playmakers on the field at the same time.

Who says Glenn will start? If healthy he may see limited snaps and I doubt Glenn will return as a starting WR spot given the fact of the time missed. This is not pre-season you don't jerk around to what has gotten you to this point that would be down right stupid to change up the lineup. Dallas has a good rotation as is and now is not the time to mess with it.

This is my point exactly. We're a better team with Spears on the sideline. Put your best players on the field. It's really a shame but Tank almost has better numbers than Spears in 10 less games. And Ratliff is a huge upgrade over Spears, plus Tank is a natural NT!

If the coaches felt that way Spears would have been replaced. Guess what he hasn't and why because the coaches evidently see it a lot different.

Did I say Glenn would start? No, I said he would replace someone in the 3 WR set without playing all season and no assurance that he is completely healthy. Sounds like a experiment to me!

Quite frankly, neither you or myself know what the coaches feel. They may have had their hands tied behind their backs, because Tank wasn't caught up to speed yet. However he is now and is doing fine. Plus the owner must not think to much of him. He hasn't been re-signed in favor of a 7th rounder. Not quite a ringing endorsement.

Spears has been playing well as has Jay and Tank...why disturb their momentum at this point? As long as the d-line has a solid rotation (kinda like we had in the 90s) then I expect them to be effective. If it ain't broke...

Dallas has intended on having Glenn return thus they did not put him on the IR, so this was part of what they wanted to do. You can argue until you are blue in the face but the coaches are not going to start change this team’s lineup heading into the post season after this team has thus far posted a 13-2 record on the season. As I said if they felt that Spears was not a good player they would have done this move earlier in the season just as they replaced Thompson as a return man. Now is not the time to mess with the lineup.

Agreed, it would be extremely foolish to do so.

We acquired Tank Johnson for depth and to possibly take over the starting position, but Ratliff held him off.

Next season Spears may have to fight for the job but then in recent weeks Spears has been playing better and I doubt Dallas would even think about messing with the defensive rotation

Whne you say earlier in the season, you mean like what week. As I said before their arms were tied. There were rumors that Ratliff was close to replacing Spears before the season started. Oops can't do that when your starting NT rips his arm apart. Now between weeks 2 and 10, how could they possible replace Spears, logically?

Believe what you want I'm not going to argue over something as stupid as this.

How do you hold off a guy that's only been eligible to play for like 5 weeks now? Ratliff has been playing out of his mind, but I don't think it was more of a holding off deal, as it was a guy learning a new system after having a year off. Tank wasn't ready to start his first couple of games, but he has come on as of late and playing better than Spears if you ask me.
