I think we'll sign him 70% too but I think we'll sign him in less than 10 days before our first game. He'll hold out until the last second for the best deal like he did for the Patriots.

FWIW, the Talking Cowboys guys seem to think the's not going to sign for what we're willing to offer.

And that is perfectly fine.

I am more willing to just allow our own ineptitude to doom this season than allow a player who tried to hold up two franchises for money to call the shots.

Jerry Jones is more than capable of being stupid on his own. We don't need a player like Waters making it worse.

Yeah, I'm really looking forward to all the doom, too.

+1
it seems like he's happy with overpaying fan favorites by multiple millions but he'd rather be dipped in hot oil than to be coerced into coughing up one extra million for someone we need.

Well, normally I'd say let him rot. But for the first time in many years I believe we have a good shot at the big dance, or at least the Championship game. Sign Waters and we may have a great line, by mid-season we may have a elite line.

Not only a great line, but it's a line that can survive a injury and still be good enough. All the other pieces of the puzzle are in place. Jerry has brought in football people and it's showing, we will make some noise.

Don't wait till another team has a injury and Waters will be gone in 1 day.

Let's bear in mind that Waters turned down a $4,000,000 offer from the Pats before he walked out on them. During the offseason, he also let it be known that his asking price would be in excess of that amount. Jerry and Stephen would be fools to even think about accomodating such a ridiculous expectation. They're not likely to consider destroying their salary structure for such foolishness. I seriously doubt Waters will ever be a Cowboy.

I'm curious as to the sources of these $4 million rumors. I've seen one from a Patriots beat reporter, (Shalise Manza Young), but nothing otherwise ever confirming it to be true.

And I've never seen anything stating that Waters was demanding in excess if that amount now.

Would you be able to post a link to that info? I'd very much appreciate it.

If Jerry Jones pays Waters $4M to "rescue" this OL, that might be the final straw that takes the last vestiges of my sanity.

Jerry should pay the man,its not worth losing a guy who you just paid 110 million.

Rodgers was sacked 15 times more than Romo last year and also has signed a large contract... And the Packers have lost their LT for the season.

Mickey Spags has suggested that the Waters signing is appearing less and less likely.

Just reading between the lines of the information/ misinformation that is coming out, I think unless tonight and next week are a total disaster (meaning Bernadeau/Arkin meltdown completely and Livings injury looks on-going) it won't happen.

I think the boys offer has been made, Waters does not like it and the only thing that drives up the boys offer is seeing something more that scares the crap out of them.

I agree with your take.

Unless Bern looks awful and Leary loses his leg to gangrene I wouldn't look for Waters.

Also a decent showing by Arkin could cement his position as the #3 guard.

And if Livings comes back within the next couple weeks the Cowboys depth at guard will be decent.
I don't think it bodes well for Cook and Kowalski. If Bern is the starting RG then I would say Costa will remain as the backup center.

And as usual you want to do nothing to make the O line stronger. Always with more excuses. SO WHAT if Rogers was sacked more- who cares and what does THAT have to do with our situation. JUST IN CASE you did not know every time a QB is hit there is potential for injury. So it just makes sense to do as much as possible to prevent any hits. Why do you want Romo to keep getting hit?

A half-arsed look at who makes the final 53 on the oline...

Tackles: Smith, Free, Parnell, Bell
Guards: Leary, Bern, Arkin, Livings
Center: Frederick, Costa

Not sure if they'll keep 10 but I like the depth.
