Owner Jerry Jones said Dallas has a good idea of when Trevon could return, but also offered a little shot at the corner's previous injury rehab.

“We have a good idea," Jones said. "He’s working hard. That’s very important because if he will be very good and diligent in his rehab process then he’ll get back quicker. And when he does get back, he’ll be sounder. If he has not worked as hard, he is more subject to injury. He’s learned that one time.

"I have a lot of hope that his actual rehab and experience from the time before is really helping him out. I think it is.”

That's a subtle poke that confirms a long-standing rumor ... that Dallas was displeased with Diggs' commitment to rehab the last time around.

The medical staff for Jerry's team is top of the industry. Jerry has strong imput around him.

With Diggs, DaRon Bland, and now Revel. Jr, that is a decent trio of corners, but with Diggs the crown jewel of the secondary, getting him back on the field is crucial to Dallas' chances in 2025.

This is the current question left by Jerry following the just completed draft.

The Emergence of the NFC East

The New York Giants drafted Jaxson Dart in the first round. The Philadelphia Eagles just won the Superbowl with Jalen Hurts, and the Washington Commanders more or less gave away their 2023 season for the legend of Jayden Daniels. It is now a more realistic likelihood that Prescott will be the least talented quarterback in the division. Everybody else is gnawing on first round talent. The Cowboys get… well… Dak. And we already know what Dak is. Good, not great. And shaky at best in the playoffs.

The Cowboys had the premier opportunity to potentially draft a better quarterback, even after filling their biggest needs. They passed on Dillon Gabriel who established himself as a Heisman contender as a member of the Oregon Ducks after departing the Oklahoma Sooners. Everybody passed on Shedeur Sanders who was billed to be a late first/early second rounder. Both quarterbacks were eventually swallowed up by the Cleveland Browns who already had Joe Flacco and Deshaun Watson. We suspect at least one of those new quarterbacks won’t fancy their new enclosures for long. But as of right now they’re all the buzz in Cleveland.

This falls back upon current coaching staff and Jerry. We all shall see!

The biggest question in the room is if Jerry pays now for an already extablished #2 WR before scaring all fans watching prior to workouts.

Dallas failed to bolster the receiving corps during the draft, but Stephen Jones previously hinted the team may not be done making trades after the draft wraps up.

For the first time since 2020, the Cowboys did not draft a wide receiver, a spot where Dallas has admitted they've been looking for an "explosive" second option to pair with CeeDee Lamb. The front office has reiterated time and time again that player acquisition is a cycle that is always ongoing for Dallas, and the addition of a receiver via trade or free agency is still on the table.

"It was definitely a big time thought," Jerry Jones said when asked if wide receiver was the subject of a "substantive trade" Jones had mentioned earlier in the week. "The train has not left the station if improvement is needed from what we've got on campus."

What they have on campus is Jalen Tolbert, Parris Campbell, Ryan Flournoy, Jalen Brooks and Jonathan Mingo, who the team traded for a fourth-round pick to the Carolina Panthers that turned into Georgia running back Trevor Etienne being selected earlier on Saturday. It'll be a position to monitor in the coming weeks as the Cowboys get close to the start of OTAs on May 19.

I'm a casual fan since the early/mid 1970"s and these are my thoughts:
Dillon Gabriel looked like a deer in the headlights against Ohio State. He reminded me of Dak against top tier defenses: But then again, Mahomes looked like a deer in the headlights against a really stout Eagles defense.
A really great defense usually destroys a really great offense; so defense = championships, and this team fails to recognize or has stayed in denial for the last 25+ years. Parcells knew it and started to fix it with Newman, Ware, Spears, Canty, Williams, James, but Jerry ran him off by insisting on adding T.O. without Bill's blessing, but that's water under the bridge.
Now it's Shotty's turn to play the part of Cowboy's head coach.
