What is your take, or if you choose, a grade on TC so far.

Even though it's only been what 8 or 9 practices. How do you feel about the team now compared to after the draft. And how worried or concerned are you now, with the 18 injured players, even if some are very minor type things.

I know, there will be ...wait until they play...posts. But that's not the idea of this thread.

I am liking what I'm hearing about the defense to a degree. Sounds like Crawford will be more than what I thought after he was drafted. Seems more of the players are focused on getttnig this defense down to 2nd nature.

Mo will have his growing pains at Cb, but will be fine. The addition of Carr looks to be everything they hoped for. Church a pleasant surprise a S. Connor was a grat siginig, and Carter seems to be improving.

What was a strength at WR at the end of last year, seems to be a weakness now due to depth, especially with Austin's hamstring issue.

The OL has been an ongoing issue, and again, with all the injuries, is my biggest concern.

Overall I am not worried, but a little concerned even for this early in camp. But only for depth issues. I have no grade to put on them, as it's too early IMO.

As for the first preseason game, I will take nothing from it, except to see how some players play in their assignments individually.

I don't think this team has improved significantly from last year. Primarily because the interior of the offensive line won't be all that much different. There will also be some growing pains in the secondary that could cause problems early in the season.

I feel the same way I did after the draft. We still have the same question marks with no answers and injuries have done nothing but raise more questions.

I think if we get healthy we should have a pretty good team though.

Also does anyone else just expect our rookies to get decimated with injuries? It happens every year to us.

This is a better question for Tuesday AM after we get to see them play somebody. I dont see how you could give a letter grade for it. At this point there is probably concern where we thought there would be concern, and strength where we thought there would be strength.

Interior offensive line didn't break our season and I just have to believe we upgraded from a personnel standpoint.

What did break our season was our overall pass defense and bad game management. Hopefully we improved in those 2 areas.

Yeah, I was going to say the same, that I don't think we can know anything yet. The media are in full-on cheerleader mode right now, so everything except for maybe interior o-line looks perfectly rosy. We can start to actually make a judgement once we see some of these guys play real football against another team.

The things I've heard so far that have been repeated enough to probably have some validity are that Carr, Dez, Lee, and Murray look really good. But that's about it, and none of those are real surprises.

The emergence of Crawford and Lissimore, along with the makeover in the secondary has me much more optimistic about the defense, especially if Bruce Carter can play.

The offense is in limbo. In the next four weeks, they have to get this offensive line together. If Livings and Bernardeau don't measure up, the offense will struggle mightily against good teams. Both of those guys HAVE to be good.

The McBriar mistake is going to hurt us.

I think we are as good or better in almost every area than last year.
QB: up. Romo was great but is still getting better. Orton is an upgrade.
RB: up. Murray was a rookie with no preseason...potential stud. Felix at backup is better than Felix is astarter, imo.
FB: up or even. Vickers. We'll see but I like the physicality
WR: depends on health. even. Dez' 1st offeseason in his carrer will help a ton. But any injuries and we could have issues with backups to Miles and Dez.
OT: up. a year older and the flip-flop should mean improvement
Interior OL: even..so not good. Worried...just like last year. So a wash right now.

P: worried a little right now...but it's easy to find an average punter right before the season if needed.
K: even..which is good

DLine: up. this looks promising
OLB: even. although are depth is better.
ILB: up...excited about our ILBs
CB: big up
S: up or even...imo

Coaching. UP. Good staff additions and now Garrett finally has a full offseason and year under his belt. Callahan will relieve some stress on gameday too.

C+

The issues on the interior OL bring the grade way down.

Well, if the secondary is going to fail at least they will fail and take chances with guys who can make plays on the ball.

That's one thing I'm looking forward to, guys who play the ball.

Better than expected:
Crawford - More ready to contribute than expected.
Dez - Better physically and mentally.

Disappointment:
3rd/backup WR - No clear cut leader.

Huge Disappointment:
Injuries - Especially OLine and Austin.
