Build a starting lineup of players who began their career in Dallas, but finished it somewhere else.

QB...Steve DeBerg. Not many people know he was drafted by Dallas. Guy had a great ball fake.

RB...Herschel Walker. I contemplated Emmitt and Tony, but Herschel was younger than both when he was traded away. I still think he was used improperly after Dallas or he would have been a HOFer.

FB...Lousaka Polite. Not much to choose from for FB.

WR...Jimmy Smith. For many of us this one will be obvious.

WR...Bob Hayes. Not many may know he went to the 49ers after Dallas.

TE...Pettis Norman. In the 1960's he was our first great TE.

LT...Flozell Adams. Hey, the Hotel was pretty good.

LG...Ron Stone. Became an All Pro with the Giants. We had him first.

C.. Mark Stepnoski. He came back but he did leave.

LG...Kevin Gogan. One of my favorite unheralded players. Loved his mean streak.

RT...Erik Williams. Yeah it was after the car wreck and he was a shell of his former self, but he was still a bad man.

DE...Greg Ellis. Solid but not spectacular. Had his best season as a 3-4 OLB.

DT...Leon Lett. The Big Cat took his big game to the Broncos for a year.

DT...Russell Maryland. He wasn't all world, but he got the job done.

DE...Jim Jeffcoat. I was sad when he went to the Bills.

OLB...Thomas Henderson. I know he screwed up, but baby could he play.

MLB...Eugene Lockhart. The Hitting Machine took his skills to New England.

OLB...Randall Godfrey. I really liked this guy.

CB...Everson Walls. Never got the respect he deserves IMO.

SS...Michael Downs. He only played a year after he left Dallas, but he still has my vote here.

FS...Dennis Thurman. Might as well have the leader and two of his thieves back there.

CB...Aaron Kyle. I was kind of bummed when he took off to Denver.

Jimmy Smith was the main one that got away.

Nice list

Todd Christensen comes to mind. Of course he was a RB with us and the Raiders moved him to TE where he turned out to pretty good.

what about Steve Wisniewski.........he was one of the best OL of the 90s......and he never played a down for us, yet we did draft him in 89 and then shipped him off to the Raiders.

btw, what exactly did we get in return for this trade, i cannot seem to find it online?

I'm too lazy to compile a full team right now, but some off the top of my head I'd add

QB--Craig Morton
HB--Calvin Hill
OL--John Niland, Bob Asher
WR--Reggie Rucker

brock marion

Dale Hellestrae
Keith Davis (special Teams)

Roy Williams 31

James Washington

If memory serves, one Daryl "Moose" Johnston.

Oh, and Brian Waters would get a vote from me as would my "never got their due" candidates Randall Godfrey and Brock Marion.

I'd add Ken Norton Jr

This!! Our D was never the same after he left. He was fast and a leader on the field. People can disagree but I think having him go to the Niners had more to do with us losing our edge in 1994 than them signing Deion. Norton leaving was huge and is often overlooked.

Kelvin Martin

He had a couple of good years in Seattle after leaving Dallas. Better than Bob Hayes had in SanFran. Martin also came back to Dallas briefly.
