Who'd have thunk, back in 1996, when Irvin was the poster boy for our teams overall bad boy image, that the Cowboys would sit here today as the proven NFL halfway house for players struggling to find their rehabilitative 2nd chance in the league?

We've given 2nd chances to Spellman, Underwood, AB, Ross, Carson, TO and Tank to name a few off the top of my head. Have they all paid dividends? No. But they were all signed to deals that allowed us the necessary back door and we're managed within the organization in a way that allowed them their opportunity without apparent significant detriment to the rest of the team.

Many organizations would be roundly criticized for even considering interest in Pacman Jones. Now whoever ultimately takes him on will receive some criticism. But in Dallas a very strong historical case can be made that Dallas does more than simply flock to talent no matter their character.

We used to be the laughingstock. Now arguably, we might be considered the leader. From worst to first. Kudos to Jerry.

They were both character risks and fell in the draft because of it.

One of the benifits to having the GM not haveing to answer to the owner...well, I guess he answers to the owner, but they are real real tight.

Also helps the Jerry is the Cowboys #1 fan (no offence CC), and will do anything he can to help the team.

This is something that we will loose once Jerry passes the torch, as I don't see son Stephen being the GM.

Really thought, this is where Jerry's business side show through. He understands the concept of risk versus reward. If you can minimize the risk for some of these 2nd chance players, the rewards can be tremendous.
