Slow down there. First of all Martin isn't playing like that now. So don't think any player stepping into that position is replacing this current All World future HOF'er that walks on water. Second, yes he can step in and replace Martin and eventually become an above average starting OG in this league. That's the best anyone can hope for unless he can elevate his game to Tyler's status. It's very very rare to replace a future HOFer with a future HOFer. Just because he is a UDFA doesn't mean he can't do it. It's happened before (it happened right here with the Cowboys) and will happen again.

There are some in here that think we have guys who can step into Lambs and Parsons shoes and can replace them so those players should be traded!

GM Jethro caved once again and got caught with his pants down and no adequate replacement.

O'Cyrus was available to us in round 2 and we passed on him for a TE, because we had no idea who Ferguson was.

You need to slow down because last season was Martin’s first down season. He was still playing at a high level prior to that or Jerry wouldn’t have caved and gave him more money when he held out last summer. We went heavy on the OL in the draft because it’s an issue. Martin had some lower body injuries that caused him some problems but he was still one of the top Guards in the NFL
As regards Steele, if he can get back to what he was before the injury he is good enough; excellent run blocker and acceptable pass blocker

You have to admit the odds are long. When we had the best OL in the league several years ago it was built with mostly first round draft picks. I can’t remember the last time we had a longterm starter on the OL that was an undrafted FA.

Also the first rookie olineman since the 40s to make 1st Team All Pro.

Martin has a strong claim to a better career performance at G than Larry.

IMHO he is no where close to being a part of this conversation. I have seen every game he has ever played for the Cowboys. He is a solid consistent performer but he is not dominant. Even in his prime he wasn't dominating. Honestly cant even remember the last time he flashed.
