Nobody gets past Zack Martin.
Nobody.
When the Dallas Cowboys made the wildly unpopular move to draft the offensive guard 16th overall in 2014, out came the pitchforks and torches tagged with the name "Jerry Jones" painted in red. Or at least we hope that was paint.
Now only two years into his career, Martin has been named an All-Pro twice to accompany his two pro bowl trips and has dominated at his position consistently.
The Notre Dame alum is one of the key cogs in the best offensive line in football and he's back to his elite ways in 2016, being ranked by Pro Football Focus as the top graded guard in the NFL for Week 4:
Right guard: Zack Martin, Dallas Cowboys, 89.6
Zack Martin is one of the league’s best guards, and the tape from Week 4 provides a perfect example as to why he’s earned that distinction. Dallas averaged 10.6 yards per carry on runs that went either side of Martin’s block, and his ability to execute within the Cowboys’ zone runs was a thing of beauty.
This is something Martin has done week in, week out since suiting up for the Cowboys in the Fall of 2014 and is one of the most available/durable players on the roster.
Being in only the third year of his rookie deal, he's giving Dallas All-Pro play for only pennies on the dollar (base salary for 2016: $1,235,254). Whereas some other NFL players suddenly break out in their contract year, Martin has been money from the word 'go'.
And in 2017, he'll likely be rewarded for it all with a contract extension big enough to crack the bank in two.
