Being expected to "miss no more than a week" could be anything from a doctor's prognosis to just someone on the Cowboys training staff who judged it about normal for a stinger.

The real good news is that it IS a stinger and not whether it will keep him out 4 days, 7 days, or 10 days. The good news is that he isn't hurt structurally and will be ready for NY in week 1.

He probably plays if there were a regular season game next week or even this weekend.

Since we're only in the 2ND week of the preseason, there is no need to rush back. I'd bring him back after the Minnesota game.

all too often players go back to early and re injure themselves. Unless you are talking playoff games or games needed to be won to get into the playoffs a smart staff will rest a guy as long as possible.

Does he really need a couple of extra days of practice that could be gained by returning asap?

Really
If this was regular season I suspect he would be out there Sunday
But this is pre season and there is really no reason to play him
Let Collins knock some heads, he needs the reps

Had a bunch of them. It was never a week, never more than a day.

I understand precaution but I hope that is all that it is.

I guess you're tougher than I am :p I've had a few and they put me out of practice for at least 3 days.

If he has significant stenosis then it will come out in time. If he has mild stenosis that doesn't preclude him continuing to play then they will not bring it up...at least not at this time.

Most of the time it's just stretching the nerves from downward motion of the shoulder and some extension and rotation of the neck to the opposite side. Generally that goes away quickly unless they are recurrent.

So unless he duplicates the trauma then I suspect he'll be back soon.

He needs to keep his head up.

All speculation pre-MRI. Doesn't sound like normal "stinger" protocol, hopefully it's not a serious spinal stenosis diagnosis.

Who's reporting he's out only a week?

Per the article...

Zack Martin is expected to miss no more than a week of practice with an injury he suffered when the Cowboys worked against the St. Louis Rams, a source said.

So it would appears it was someone named A. Source.

I never said it was stenosis so not sure which ones you talking about. I thought it was clear it was likely poor blocking technique that caused it. You always want to know the mechanism of injury so you can anticipate how to treat and what else to investigate and how.
