He’s done! If the opportunity to block for Dowdle doesn’t get you more than a little bit excited then you’re already retired.

He was banged up, his leadership and example will be paramount in mentoring this young line.
If he can still run his five miles, with his pride and professional he will game day meet the opening whistle. I want him and not a youthful -not respecting, for letting a team distinguished veteran go. Just observe his real ability and not keeping a turk employed.

So Martin will be back to steal checks again? The jason Witten plan.

Is he “stealing checks”?

Or is he performing to the best of his abilities and is being paid based on a legal contract that has been signed by him and his employer?

Do you believe he’s “stealing checks” by mailing it in, not trying, not practicing like he should, refusing to go into games, etc?

If I had a boss that told me I couldn't be fired or I didn't need to show up or I didn't need to be successful...I'd love him too.

If you’re suggesting Zack Martin the player could lead by example, his current level of play is not the kind of example other linemen should emulate. Zack could probably coach linemen if he wanted to but I’m hoping he retires as a player. The Cowboys pretty much squandered an OL that once had Zack, Tyron Smith and Travis Frederick.

Wow….the guy played injured most of the season. He was grinding in pain and limited, but trying to help the team. I’m shocked by the number of people ready to run him off the team. Not one of you knows whether or not he is still better than any backup guard we ran out there last year. His decision on retirement will tell you about his health and about the opinion coaches have about him.

If he thinks he can’t play at a high level when healthy, he probably retires.
If the coaches tell him he’s not that guy any more and he won’t be the starting right guard, then he is even more likely to retire.

After all the guy has given to the Cowboys, let’s not judge him on a season when he played through injury until he couldn’t, and let’s not pretend that guys like Bass and Hoffman or anyone else can replace him until we actually see it happen.

ZM hasn't been "that guy" in several years. Every time the other guys have replaced him over the last several seasons, the line has actually been better. We have seen it happen.
