I saw a nice post comparing Zeke to other running back performances yesterday. Since we have/had high expectations for Zeke, I wanted to compare Zeke to other top tier backs in their first game of their careers. Below is a list of the single season rushing leaders for the last 10 years and how each of them performed in the first NFL game.

First career game (Not year the player lead the league in rushing):

Adrian Peterson 9 for 103 = 5.42 ypc
LeSean McCoy 9 for 46 = 5.11 ypc
Chris Johnson 15 for 93 = 6.20 ypc
LaDainian Thomlinson 36 for 113 = 3.14 ypc
Maurice Jones-Drew 2 for 8 4.00 = ypc
DeMarco Murry 2 for 0 0.00 ypc

Also:

Eric Dickerson 31 for 91 = 2.94 ypc

I don't know what the key was but NYG were all over the LOS whenever Zeke got the ball. There literally was nowhere to run.

Now Morris did run with better patience, but it also appeared the Giants weren't crowding the LOS as much when he came min.

And, AP had 19 carries for 31 yards yesterday. Tennessee was bent on forcing the QB to beat them, and he did...........oh, my bad. Their OWN QB beat them. Pick 6 and fumble return.

Valid comparison. With all the hype Zeke had coming into the game and a rookie QB the Giants were stacked to stop him. It was unsettling that Morris was much more effective though.

There was somewhere to run the ball. Outside. But. Let's keep pounding the middle. Let's keep trying to go right at the oppositions strength. This coach does not comprehend how to find a mismatch. It's insulting to people that love the game and watch him do the same thing over and over and over again expecting different results. What's that the definition of again?

So that means Dak wasn't good enough to make the Giants defend the pass. They were able to play the run and nothing else. Even our QBs last year had ourb running game clicking.

Yea and Cole Beasley was much more effective than Dez Bryant yesterday.
I guess Dez is garbage now also. Hey even TWill had triple the amount of catches as Dez...cut him. And Zeke to!!

We don't know if Dak wasn't good enough or the conservative game plan wasn't putting Dak in position to beat them downfield. This team is know to turn everyone into Checkdown Charlie.
