I like to hear this from Zeke.

The Dallas Cowboys have a void to fill with the departures of tight end Jason Witten and wide receiver Dez Bryant.

Outside of production, the established veteran duo provided leadership on and off the field.

But the Cowboys have a plan in place for running back Ezekiel Elliott, one of the team's top offensive stars, to step up and lead.

"[Elliott's] been much more vocal," Cowboys running backs coach Gary Brown said, via Jon Machota of the Dallas Morning News. "It's good for him. He's in his third year. Coming out here being a more vocal leader, not just a leader by what he does on the football field, I think that's really good for him and really good for our football team."

The Cowboys elected to not bring back veteran Alfred Morris, and Elliott, who turns 23 on July 22, finds himself leading a young running back corps, which includes fourth-year pro Rod Smith, Trey Williams and a pair of rookies in Bo Scarbrough and Jordan Chunn.

He might be young, but Elliott embraces the opportunity to spearhead the group.

"It's definitely something I've been thinking about," Elliott said, via the Dallas Morning News. "It seems like I was just a rookie not too long ago. I'm just trying to do my best to bring these rookies along and show them the way."

Meanwhile, the running back should also have plenty of opportunities to lead by example with deeds on the football field.

With Witten and Bryant absent from the offense, the Cowboys are likely to lean on an energized Elliott, who produced 983 yards rushing and seven touchdowns in 2017 despite serving a six-game suspension.

"With what happened last year with the whole suspension and everything, I think he felt as though he didn't accomplish anything," Brown said, via the Dallas Morning news. "But he did accomplish some things. Hopefully, he doesn't put too much pressure on himself. If he doesn't, I think we'll have a great Zeke."

Should Elliott fully absorb his role as a leader on and off the field, he would be more than primed to return to his rookie season form where he exploded for 1,994 total yards (1,631 rushing) and 16 touchdowns en route to a first-team All-Pro selection.

Sounds good to me. Being a team leader might curtail some of zeke's playfulness. Seems dak and zeke like hanging out together. Waterguns and all.

As long as they stick to water pistols and stay away from the real ones I'm good with it. When they hit the field game or practice, I expect them to go out and take care of business. Guys cutting loose and having some fun to me is not a big deal.

Let’s hope this includes stopping or at least limiting the self promoting ” Feed Me” expressions,

Let me guess, it would be ok if Zeke did the traditional forward point that people do after first downs?

No Fun League, exhibit A, it's not just on the Front Office.
Yes. A player with his off field distractions which ultimately have hurt the team shouldn't be self promoting or cocky expressions.

I like the "feed me" gesture. Completely original. And it typically follows a good run.

Yeah just about anytime a player "owns" a move that isn't a time-waster, I like it. They're having fun and they're getting into it and that's good for the team and good for them that they can have fun.

If you watch TWill, he's really funny. Sometimes when big, good plays happen he fake faints and you can see him in the background just randomly collapse on his back haha, like it's just too much

Dez of course had the X for TDs, and that was pretty awesome until 2015.

Zeke's thing is perfect for this team's offensive philosophy, I love it. Feed the RB.

So how long should Zeke have to wait after last season's drama before he's allowed to rotate his hand in front of his face?

Just curious how, specifically, hypothetical Head Coach Diehardblues thinks that Zeke should be disciplined for having a personality.

That's what you're doing, you're saying he must do something different than he wants as a result of bad behavior. You are advocating he be disciplined by restricting what he's allowed to do, so define that. Is he allowed to do any hand gesture? Is he banned for life or just a season from pretending to eat cereal?

I can't tell you how much I would like to go on a fishing trip and talk like mad with you. You were/are a scientist? Physicist? I was placed, going into high school, in physics before I had even learned the word Trigonometry.
I was bombing like hari kari - I tried, but was falling on my sword.
It took a TON of independent study to catch up with these Seniors (that's Texas for ya) to crush that semester, and cruise through Calculus and the various what-nots of mathematics. I then went off on a different path though, but your posts make me hearken to my soul wanting to KNOW the Universe and it's building blocks and the mathematics behind it.

One day...

Shoot - one of the reasons I married my wife is because she's a geo-physicist.
The apostrophe S is "was", not is.

That's fine and all. It ought to be easy for him, as good a player as he is.

More than anything, he just needs to make sure he stays on the field.

I had the privilege of working at cern for 8 years. Worked on the atlas detection team. I was in the auditorium when the official announcement confirming the higgs boson was made. My biggest contribution to lhc was introducing peet's coffee to the break room.
