Through three games, Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott is tied for the NFL's rushing lead with 274 yards but he has yet to carry it 20 times in a game.

As the Cowboys' offense struggles, averaging just 13.7 points per game, Elliott will not go to head coach Jason Garrett or offensive coordinator Scott Linehan to ask for more carries, Todd Archer of ESPN Dallas reports.

"I mean you can do all of that but at the end of the day if you go back and watch the film, it's poor execution on offense," Elliott said. "You can't run the ball if you're down by 17 points. That's what it is. We get behind, we've got to be able to throw the ball and not be able to do what we want to do.

This is the only NFL coaching he knows, he doesn't know better. Same with Dak and most of the offense. There are much more creative minds out there to help the players succeed, rather than rely on them beating the other team with talent.

Poor Zeke being the bigger player and taking account for the horrible offense seems like there is a power struggle in who is going to take the blame for all this all the players are the coaches not so much

Good teams overcome being down early. If the Cowboys need a good start to win games then they're not a good team. But we already knew that.

Or Zeke who watched film and know what's suppose to happen on a play is telling you it's execution. As we tell our players, film don't lie, it will find you.

Yes! If only Zeke and other players on the team would join this forum. We could teach them so much about football couldn’t we?

Funny that we've stuck with the run with the past coming out at halftime and it got us back in the game. But this HC panics too much.....
To me, this issue has gone far beyond just running the ball more. Or running it less. Or whatever.

The entire offensive system, the entire offensive scheme needs to be thrown out. It's an old, stale, fossilized, squalid, sewage dump. It has to go. All of it. Along with everyone who designed it.

Giving Zeke the ball 25 to 30 times a game will help in time of possession and keep the team in games longer. Maybe give you an extra win to 2.

But if you want to compete with the Rams, Eagles, Chiefs, Falcons, Saints and Packers among others, you need to start from scratch. Because this system will never work, no matter how many times you give Zeke the ball.

So the super star running back says that we have to be able to throw the ball... This popcorn moment was brought to you by the makers of Jiffy Pop
Exactly.

If it was all about execution then there would be no need for scheming, and thus no reason for preparation nor coaching. The players would only have to suit up and play.

This, x1000. Why can everyone see it, and opposing players and announcers even state it, but the Cowboys FO and coaches won't do anything about it?

This headline "Zeke : It's all about execution" , reminded me of the late , great John McKay , who once was famously asked by a reporter after a typically brutal loss by his Buccaneer's team about his team's execution....................

And he responded that he was all for it...........................................

Someone hire this man as a consultant......its a shame you can see this but paid professionals cant

We can tear the system apart. The system didn't fumble in the red zone, drops, step out of bounds bringing back an easy TD or missing blitz pick ups.
