Thankful Cowboys salute you for working out, Zeke. Working out, dear boy, is always a good sign.

Now, where is that promising lad Pollard?

The guy who sacrificed his body to keep dak safe...helping a broken o-line that gets pummeled on a regular basis.
The guy who plays hurt, because the team asked him to...even when A hole fans ridicule him for it.

IMO, the primary reason for his lower productivity was that he would do exactly what is seen in the video. He would get the ball and then start dancing as he came up to the line of scrimmage. The additional time taken would just allow a defender to shed a blocker and tackle him. When Zeke was effective, he would just hit the hole and go. Pollard last year would just take the ball and go.

The line wasn't as bad last year as people made it out to be. You just can't hold blocks against NFL caliber defenders forever.

That's weird because I see Dak tripping over the feet of the center right on the hike, tripping into the handoff to Zeke as zeke has to avoid the 1st defender behind the los.

My philosophy on RBs:

Don't draft a RB in the 1st round ever
Always have 2 good ones on the roster - you don't necessarily need a great one
Keep them through the first 4 years of their rookie contract. When the 2nd contract comes up and they are wanting big money then just let them go.
Draft them with the intention of only keeping them 4 years and replacing them after that.

There could be a very rare exception where you look at the 2nd contract but it would have to be a very, very special RB that had a history of staying healthy.[/QUOTE]

Its funny how the holes are there when Pollard runs. Zeke used to explode into the line making it so that offensive lineman didn't have to hold their blocks for long. He was never a good set up guy like Emmitt but his burst and strength was more than enough to get him to the second level. Nowadays he just walks up to the line as the holes open and close and then starts jumping left and right waiting for someone to tackle him for a 1 yard gain. The only big gains he gets are through massive holes that you just don't get very often at the NFL level.

At least, that's how it plays out in my universe.

Other than the long TD run against New Orleans the majority of big plays by Pollard were on trick plays. Don’t get me wrong I like Pollard a lot and think he is not used enough or correctly.

It's amazing to me how many of our fans apparently would have been fine missing out on Emmitt Smith ... and Tony Dorsett. You can find a good and even great RB later in the draft, but the percentages go down.

I can understand some being disappointed that Eliott hasn't been either of them, but he was drafted in the first round because that was the level of expectation. I do not have a problem with the pick if the team thinks it is getting a generational talent. Elliott has been better than he's usually credited for, but it's hard to live up to being a first-round pick much less being a top five pick.

It is my opinion that if you and I viewed the same video of Pollard running Zeke's plays up the middle, we'd see Tony having the same results as Zeke.

But....we see things a bit different.

I'd post Zeke 2021 highlights to show pre-injury, zeke WAS "exploding" and running past defenders....and having to move the pile on short yardage...again....but it doesn't seem to make any difference to people that don;t want to see it.

Since you mentioned it....Zeke was also drafted to compliment Romo. There's no proof, obviously, but I think things would be VERY different had it gone that way.

Pollard got 10 or more carries in 8 games. In those 8 games, he averaged 5 yards per carry 5 times. He might not have been getting huge chunks of yards every play but he was consistently getting enough that he wasn't putting the team in a bad down and distance situation.

Zeke got 10 or more carries 13 times. He averaged 5 yards per carry 3 times.
